Hello, I'm 31 years old I had 3 seizures for the first time this New Years morning 2014 all a few minutes apart. I have never had this before and no one in my family either. I don't know anyone that has seizures either. My husband saw everything that happened and was able to call an ambulance and send me to the hospital. I'm very frustrated because I can't concentrate like normal and I still feel a little dizzy and tired. I'm also still having headaches and I can't seem to get out of this down funky feeling. I'm pretty outgoing and pretty happy and I don't feel like myself. If anyone has any advice regarding if this is all part of the after affects of the seizures please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Monica. I'm so sorry to hear you are having a rough time. What kind of seizures did you have? It's not at all uncommon after having one big seizure, or a cluster of seizures to experience the symptoms you are describing. Also if they put you on a medication to prevent more seizures and gave you meds for the ones you were experiencing to make them stop, then those medications will also contribute to how you are feeling right now.

I was told I had grand mal seizures and I wasn't sent home with any medication. I have an EEG scheduled next week so I'm hoping I'll have more answers, my MRI was normal. I just want to make sure how I feel
Is normal I feel frustrated and a little sad and I can't shake it off as much as I try. I tried calling a nurse and they had no answers for me since the doctor is out on vacation till next week. I'm very glad I found this website.

Seizures can give you a headache and I'm sorry to hear about your seizures also.seizures don't have to run in your family for anyone to get them.Medications can make you dizzy and tired you said you went to the hospital. The meds can make u dizzy, fatigued and you can get depressed because of the meds.
Headaches are after affect of the seizure. It can take you a few weeks to get use to the side effects of the medications.

Yes the grand mal ( also called tonic clinic ) are kind of the monster of all seizures. 1 of them would take a lot out of you for a number of days so I'm not surprised that inky 72 hours later you are still feeling crummy after having 3 of them. Add to that the shock from having seizures out of the blue like you did and yes I would say everything you are feeling is completely normal ( although obviously we aren't doctors here). Give yourself time to recover, the dizziness, headache, confusion etc should clear up after a bit. As for the feeling down part I would say that is pretty normal too especially when you are worried and don't have any answers yet. I hope you get your neuro appointment fast so they can give you some answers and help you get feeling more like yourself.

Thank you very much. Just hearing this from someone who is going through this helps extremely. I wasn't sure if it was just me or apart of the seizures. Thank you very much!!!

Oh Im so sorry. We here, certainly know of those feelings you are talking about. The headache, fogginess, sheer sadness, but It will get better. Find yourself a neurologist you like and can talk to. Some can be weird. Perhaps it is a one time thing due to an imbalance of sorts, maybe its not. You will feel better if not already. Keep us posted.

Thank you for all your input it really does help. I just have to take it day by day.

Hi Monica, and welcome! I second what the others are saying. I've had 4 or 5 tonic-clonics and thousands of simple partial seizures over the past 33 years, and I can absolutely guarantee you that the TCs will knock you on your butt, physically, mentally and emotionally for days. They are a really big insult to your body and brain, and they're very scary to those who see them. (Not nearly so scary for us who have them, because we don't know whats going on and can't see ourselves. Fortunately!)
Even the simple partials that I have now, which last for anywhere from 2 seconds to maybe 20 seconds, can tire me out a little and mess with my memories and such.
I hope they find some answers for you and that you don't have any more seizures of any sort! Keep us posted!

Thank You. I'm anxious to have the EEG done this Wednesday hoping to find some answers. Fingers crossed.

Well, just wanted to give an update. Thank God my EEG was normal but I still don't know the cause of the seizures. Still no driving for the next 3 months :-( thankfully I am now feeling a lot like myself still having some swelling and very minor concentration problems and also now 2 days migraine free :-). Hopefully this was a one time thing. Praying for the best. Hope everyone is doing well.
