Hi Everyone

I have had epilepsy since I was 15, and now I am in my 30's. I have partial seizures at night during REM sleep and in 08' had a double craniotomy (Seizure surgery) that didn't work due to where the seizure were coming from. I am a plethora or surgery experience since I went through the ringer. I also have auras and mini partials since I have gotten older (my threshold is weakening we think).

My last grand mal was in 08 ( fingers crossed) when the induced one) and before that it was when I was pregnant and my hormone levels were through the roof.

I am an open book.

I was very happy to have found this place after all this time.

Hi bka1212,
Welcome to CWE, everyone here has been a great help to me. I've had epilepsy for 44 yrs. and I also had surgery done (right temporal lobectomy)
which reduced my seizures.
A few yrs. ago my neuro did a sleep study on me and found I was having
seizures 1-2 hrs. before I would wake up each day but then I started using
vimpat and medical marijuana (CBD) and those seizures stopped.

I also have absence, complex partial and simple partial (aura) sz. I've found
that certain times of the yr. I have more seizures and my neuro told me it was do to the lack of serotonin in the fall and winter.

Hormones really messed me up each month but then I started eating nuts and I found out that the nuts helped reduce my seizures because they have progesterone in them and that's the hormone that helps calm the nerves.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue

I have so many questions about all of this.
The last time I smoked.. It felt like my seizures got worse and I lost my mind (this past year).
I have no idea what vimpat is?
I cannot agree more, fall and winter are def. rough for me.. I need to make sure I eat healthy and organic bc if I eat like crap my brain knows it. I had NO idea bout nuts!!!

Fill me in!!!

Nuts do not contain progesterone, they have the nutritional building blocks to make hormones.

Hey bka1212, welcome to CWE! Make yourself at home.
