I've just started having the symptoms of feeling like im dying,,happened a couple days ago and a few years back I almost died from having them in my sleep, and the doc. doesn't take it seriously.
Who should I go to even see if I am epileptic? How do they test you? Also my left foot and mainly my toes are dead feeling since the incident two days ago...is that part of it too?

Would greatly appreciate any help..thanks.

Hi lightbearer,

Welcome to CWE. If you think you are having seizures then it might be a good idea to see if your dr can give you a referral to a neurologist.
If you don't already it is a good idea to keep a diary with any symtpoms you have & how you are feeling because any information you can give with to the neurologist can help them with a diagnosis & treatment.

Often a neurologist might order either an EEG or MRI.

Please go see a neurologist ASAP.

With respect to Epilepsy testing, they will likely do an EEG and perhaps an MRI.

But whatever you do - please go see a neurologist ASAP.

And if you don't have a primary care provider, get one. Your neurologist will help with the Epilepsy or whatever it is you're experiencing but your primary care provider will help you cope with everything else and when needed, coordinate the care you need.

Thank you Shawna, I just found a Neuro in my area and with your urging I'm going to call tomorrow for an appointment. BTW..just found out my paternal grandma had epilepsy.

Thanks again.
Penny

You're welcome Penny.

I should also have added - if the neurologist you're going to see believes you have Epilepsy - please ask him/her if they specialize in Epilepsy care.

For people with Epilepsy - it is incredibly important to have a neurologist who specializes in Epilepsy.

(((hugs)))

Best wishes to you - I will light a candle for you!
