Hello, Iam new here I've just been Diagnosed Epilepsy In 2016. I never had any Seizure until 2015 of December that was when I had My first Seizure.

Ever since then I was having 3 Seizures a month on the drug Keppra I started on 250mg every time I had A seizure the doctor increased the dosage the seizures slowed down in the year of 2016 I didn't have any in July,October,November. In December of 2016 I had one Seizure it is now 2017 I've been Seizure free Im currently on 2,500mg of Keppra.

I have been having trouble lately im not sure if Iam having seizures or panic attacks. It is like suddenly im scared out of my mind then I start thinking about a certain moment then my mind goes blank I cant remember what im doing I try to remember things but I still can function like I can still move around but my brother could be talking and ill just be like what then bam all of a sudden I remember everything I have a massive headache afterwards. It seems to only happen when im just afraid or extremely angry. This has came out of nowhere I told my doctor about this but he just looked over it.

My doctor wants me to do a VEEG I already had a sleep study I dont have seizures in my sleep but they want to force my seizures ive been really afraid of this all of my MRI,Cat Scans,EEG been clear Im just 27 years old my doctor been trying to get me on other drugs but Ive declined because ive seen they have sexual side effects im trying to avoid that because im still young could someone give me any opinions. Ive been trying to get other opinions from doctors but they say you need a referral im thinking i might have to move to another city

Hello. You may be having Simple Partial seizures. A video EEG would be a good idea. I've been having them since childhood. These types of seizures are hard to catch on regular EEGs.
I would complain of "weird feelings" in my head, but nobody could understand what they were--doctors actually thought that I had a heart problem at one time.
It wasn't until after I had some Tonic Clonics, that one just happened to occur during a regular EEG. That is when they were finally diagnosed as SPs.

! ! ! ! ! Welcome to CWE 27 ! ! ! ! !

You have just started living w/E and you are already fighting nearly everything that needs to be done to set up a good treatment plan! If you don't try the new ways(meds) of treating your E, how do you know that YOU will have the same side-effects that SOME(NOT ALL) people have who take those meds?
The way you are thinking about how YOU WOULD definitely have these negative side-effects is going to make your life hard to live because you are going to either be too scared to take care of your E or you will cause more problems for yourself because of your lack of trust in the AEDs.
Living w/E means making changes to your life, so you can't expect your life to be just like it was before you were diagnosed! Having that mindset is going to lead to a severe case of disappointment on your part. You may think you are saving yourself, but you are really hurting yourself by doing this.
I have taken AEDs for over 50 years and live a happy, full life! If I would have refused to take these AEDs I don't know where I would be today! I know I would NOT be doing as well as I am today!
You have to learn to accept as a fact that you will have to live your life w/E and the changes that will need to be made in your life. If you refuse to do this you may sink into a very deep depression and NEVER be any good to anyone, especially yourself! I now this because I lived(?) with a terrible case of depression for years and finally was able to see the REAL world when I made the decision to see a counselor for help!
The big thing you need to do right now is ask questions about what would be the best things to do to help yourself! Don't ask: How can I ignore my E and still live a sexually fulfilled life? :ponder:

Feelings of fear or anger can be seizure symptoms, rather than seizure triggers. Along with everything that follows in your description they are typical of partial seizures (as mentioned by Sabbo above.). Your doctor should definitely be paying more attention -- is he/she a trained epileptologist? If not, I agree that you may want to consider seeking someone who is. But before you take that step write down, all your questions for your doctors and make sure you get clear explanations for what the doc thinks is going on, what symptoms you should be looking for or writing down, what additional tests might show, how results might effect medication, what all treatment options are, etc. Having complete information will make it easier for you and your doctor to collaborate on your care.

You should ask your neuro what they hope to evaluate with a video EEG, and what they will do with any information the vEEG turns up. It's not unusual for a traditional EEG to miss partial seizures -- they can be too transient, or occur too deep in the brain. Some people with epilepsy never generate a positive EEG. So your neuro may just be trying to get a record of every possible kind of seizure you may be experiencing. Given what you describe, it sounds like a good idea. The kinds of seizures someone is experiencing can often help determine what medications they should try.

my doctor been trying to get me on other drugs but Ive declined because ive seen they have sexual side effects im trying to avoid that because im still young could someone give me any opinions.
First of all, even "old" folks have sex, and aren't happy with sexual side effects. ;) Secondly, everyone reacts differently to meds. Listed side effects are not absolutes -- many people experience no side effects whatsoever or only one or two. Some people experience side effects that go away as the brain adjusts to the med. Of course you don't have to try a medication that you don't want to -- that is your right -- but there many different kinds of seizure medications out there, and it can sometimes take a few tries to get the right match. If your current medication isn't fully controlling your seizures (and from what you describe it may not be), then it make sense to consider adding a med or trying a different one. It's important to remember that uncontrolled seizures can have a tendency to get worse over time. In other words, it's important to "nip them in the bud" if at all possible.
