Well, I'm sitting here at 7:25am. Normally catching my first bus. Which has been canceled. Because of a stupid blizzard! It was so nice and warm and almost spring like, and it was just unseasonally warm for this time of year. which was a huge tease considering this weather! bleh.

So even if my first bus was not cancelled (which technically I could walk the small distance. it would take me about 10mins normally. 15 in this weather) But my last bus is cancelled too. Well not exactly canceled. but my second bus stop has been cancelled, which happens to be my stop, and its been re-routed to another street. Which my 3rd bus does not access....Poop

I dont know whether to be happy that this whether lets me stay home from work, or ticked off that this whether made me stay home from work...let's see frostbite and hypothermia versa losing a day's pay.... its not like I NEED the money, its the fact that I already miss so many days from seizures and things. Well I am the only one at my work that takes a bus. so I might not be in crap cuz they see the weather out there.

there are reports that the wind is busting a few windows down town....like mini tornados!

check this out! and pity me please.... lol

Good grief Rae! I guess you and seizingbeauty are just gonna have to come down here. It's going to be around 32 celsius all week here (and getting hotter no doubt) :D

You've got my pity. We're suppose to break 50 today!

It's -14C here, and it's been snowing steadily since Friday, but not enough at once for me to stay home from work :( There's a big fire downtown so centre street is shut down, but the trains are still running.

I wish I could have stayed home today... but I had to go into work. We got stuck in the snow 4 times and I pulled my back out trying to push the car.

It's crazy here. They've closed the highways outside of Winnipeg. It's treacherous outside of the city and a step down inside - just horrible instead.

Underneath the snow everything is ice as the snow melted the last few days, and then froze overnight as the temperature dropped.

But we love Winnipeg!!

I hear you on the ice under snow thing. This morning wasn't so bad, but Friday I wiped out because of that *sigh*

I'm happy we haven't had a snowstorm recently, since the Calgary's snow clearing policy is a joke -- they basically rely on chinooks to melt the snow on side-streets. We've had so much snow this year, that I couldn't access my parent's street for a few weeks, because the ruts were so deep, my car got stuck on the middle.

No wonder everybody drives SUVs here.

... and I complain about Ohio winters :paperbag:

We are supposed to have lows around -12C (10F) this coming weekend, but limited snow.

They call fast moving cold fronts 'Alberta Clippers' down here. I guess it goes past you first.

Oh yeah!
it actually has frost and wet snow frozzen to my windshield so I can't see a darn thing. Thank goodness for internet access and the power still being on here.

Will you get paid for a half day for looking things up online for your co-worker?

No clue, but I doubt it, seeing as other people made it to work. Its just not feasible for me to go. No buses, and its too far to walk, plus I dont want to spend the $35 for a cab.
I mean, I would never ask one of them to come pick me up, and nobody offered either. I mean the roads are horrible to drive in let alone try and take the bus and stand outside in such cold windy weather.

*passes the Canadians (and other cold Northerners) hot cocoa/hot tea and blankets*

I spent last winter in Alaska. I feel bad for having whinde about th45 degree weather todat, whicvh now seems balmy compared to you guys!

Never mind mocking the Canadians!! :roflmao: We know how to handle cold weather - and we don't live in igloos, either!! Besides, we get "natural" air condfitioning in the summer on the coasts! :D

We'll have to send you down some Hudson's Bay blankets, down-filled vests and sleeping bags and some firewood so that you can keep yourselves warm! :)

Oh! Hudson Bay Blankets! So warm! *think Mexican blanket but better* and I would love the hot tea! Thanks!

Yup, twice this winter *and on a weekend too.... Poop* we hit -50 to 60 with the wind chill. That's cold enough to Freeze exposed skin in less than a minute. So we all look like puffy, poofy, ninjas with just an eye slit big enough to see through. Some people where snow goggles too! This way their eyelashes don't freeze together.

Also, we have more days than the north pole where its this cold!

Yeah... every time I think about moving to Winterpeg, I hear stuff like that and I change my mind. Cold like that is rare here, although -30 is bad enough.

On Long Island here, we're expecting 6 inches of snow tomorrow which means today people will be crowding the supermarkets and stocking up on food as if we'll be holed in for two weeks. Long Islanders seem to love to panic!

HA HA HA HA!

people only do that here when we start to flood! and even then, thats a spring regular occurance, and it really does nothing to the actual city. But Snow is nothing here. Like someone said. "Canadians don't fear the cold, The Cold fears Canadians!"

Here in tropical Boston we've had a relatively mild winter, but there was a day last week when it was so windy and chilly that my building couldn't generate enough heat to keep warm. When I got into bed that night, I wore a hat and gloves and socks and long underwear (plus a ton of blankets) in order to get to sleep. I imagine I looked pretty ridiculous...
