I have grand mal seizures once a week, and petite mal ones every 1-2 days in the form of myoclonic jerks.

I have noticed recently both my petite mals and grand mals seem to be effected by one room in particular.
My bathroom, it is just a sink and shower room, so I mostly have the problem when I wash my face in the morning and at night.

First I thought it was because the windows were patterned (as some bathroom windows are) even though I am not photosensitive I thought the light through the pattern may be effecting me.

But now I've noticed it happens even when it is dark, so it can't really be the light?
Any ideas?

I know exactly how you feel I have dread of bathroom to.Keep seeing in my head falling or sz no one finding me.Maybe you worried deep down and like me try brush that reason under table

Hi Zara Newman,

I had the same problem when showering until I had surgery to reduce my seizures. My Epileptologist told me that the hot water hitting my face and head was firing up the neurons in my brain and in turn that was triggering seizures for me. Try to keep the water a little cooler and see if that helps. I know some times hot water can trigger seizures for some people according to my Dr. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

That's really interesting! I know it is physical not to do with worrying, I will try cutting down the hot water. X

Have you

tried changing the light bulbs? While you may not think you're photosensitive, you might be--ever so slightly. I've noticed lately that I'm starting to become photosensitive somewhat more....I'm now noticing flickering lights sometimes, when no one else does....& funnily enough, the light bulb goes out later on.

It's a simple fix.....

Yes, I will change the light bulbs today.
It's a good idea x

We're all being forced to change to those fluorescent bulbs. I wonder if they're more problematic to some people. I don't like them, I can't see as well with them. Never thought I was photosensitive, but when something flickers on tv or a movie I always close and cover my eyes, taking no chances. If it's not the light or fear in your room how about different smells? Soaps and lotions always have strong scents.

I know I have problems with florescent lights, ones in the supermarket and hospitals.
I have never had an EEG positive for photosensitivity though x

I've never

had one positive for photosensitivity, but I guarantee you it's starting to become an issue for me. And that REALLY aggravates me, lol, especially when I'm coming up on 20 years.....specific headlights, & lights in certain stores just really drive me nuts.

It is mainly just lights like the ones in hospitals and supermarkets.
I get ill everytime I go to hospital for any reason, it has to be the lighting
