I’m reaching out to ask for help with setting up a GoFundMe. The popular crowdfunding platform is not available on my country. I recently shared a glimpse of what has being happening with me the last few months. It’s being a huge struggle for real not just because of the condition itself, but because of a lack of support and harmful practices around me.
For context, my father recently took me to a church with the belief that “faith healing” would cure my epilepsy. This wasn’t just any church,the pastor there has a reputation for exploiting vulnerable people. (The name of of the Church is called Mercyland deliverance ministries, you can look it up on google or on YouTube) He sells items like “miracle soap” and “miracle towels” to the uneducated and desperate, promising that these things can cure serious medical conditions. When I was taken there, I was even chained as part of a so-called healing ritual, an experience that left me feeling deeply betrayed and dehumanized.
This isn’t an attack on faith or Christianity, many Christians would agree that what this pastor is doing is wrong. But it’s important to speak up because this is not just about me, it’s about the countless others who may be in the same situation or worse. There’s a young girl with epilepsy and a broken leg who is still there, living under these conditions, and there are many more who could become future victims.
Sadly, my mother’s life was also affected by a similar mindset. She passed away 19 years ago after my father removed her from a hospital to take her to a faith healer, believing it would save her. Nineteen years later, he hasn’t learned a lesson, and his decisions nearly cost me my life as well. Ignorance is one thing, but when it endangers others’ lives, it becomes a much bigger problem.
I’m asking for assistance in setting up this GoFundMe not only to cover my medical expenses—EEGs, MRIs, medications, and neurotherapy but also to spread awareness and to File a Lawsuit against my Father and the Church, about these dangerous practices and the experience I had to deal with myself.
The Charlatan needs to be stopped and for good too. If anyone here has experience with crowdfunding or can guide me in creating an effective campaign, your help would mean the world to me.
