Have you

considered that you might be photosensitive, which IS a trigger for E? There are different types of E, and not all of them require that you lose consciousness.

Have you tried putting a glare screen over your computer, or glasses that have a blue tint to them? Just as a hint, try those, see if they help. AND GET YOURSELF INTO A NEUROLOGIST TO BE EVALUATED, TOO.

When you do go into the neurologist, ask for an EEG that is AT LEAST 24 to 48 hours long, and MAKE SURE that you work in front of a computer, and video games while it is going on, since those appear to be your triggers.

Also, consider keeping a journal. Have you been getting enough sleep? Eating well? Drinking too much caffeine? I have a great list of what you should put in that journal to help you figure things out. If you want that list, let me know, and I will post it for you.

IT IS POSSIBLE that is is your anxiety kicking in.....but you owe it to yourself to be evaluated by a neurologist, ESPECIALLY since these things occur in front of video games, and computers. Please do so.

Stick around, and check out all the nooks and crannies....there is tons of information here....the Library and Kitchen are great, the Padded Room is absolutely great for when you need to vent (who doesn't at least once or twice?)

So put up your feet, and meet some new friends. Mr B has built us an AWESOME home here. Welcome to CWE.

I agree with Meetz -- see your doctor. Your disorientation and breathing difficulties might be caused by a variety of things, so it's important to get a diagnosis. In the meantime, try limiting your exposure to computer screens, and also try taking a 30-minute break during the day to do some simple relaxation exercises (it can just be closing your eyes and doing deep breathing/stretching).

Best,

Hey carlsom,

I'm also your age and spend huge amounts of time in front of the computer. I can relate to similar feelings, that would also call "spells". You can read about my symptoms in another thread here, so I'll spare you the details, but, if you have the feeling that the computer screen or work at the computer is affecting you in a negative way, please do avoid it.

I also suggest a 24-48 hour EEG and if possible an MRI to rule out any pathological problems.

Are you drinking a lot of coffee in front of the screen? Try avoiding that for a while, drink water instead, you'll get used to it :)

Take breaks as well. Not ust 5 minutes, but 30 minutes or an hour. I can't emphasise that enough.

All the best and get well soon,
Alex

Hi carlsom, welcome to the forum. :hello:

There are many different types of seizures. What you have described could be a seizure event (simple partial seizure). You should see a neurologist and get some tests done.

Hi, I think most people spending that length of time at the pc or playing video games would experience something.

I wouldnt waste time talking about it.......visit your GP and also consider giving up these games for sometime (a month?) until you get some expert opinion.

I would see your doctor. I am bother by certain light triggers...I found out going to movie theater has triggered seizures....but I am ok watching movies at home. Photosentitive triggers can vary...plus seizures can start at any age. Let us know what your doctor tell you.
