I currently am reading a book about a patient known for years as patient H.M. He was a patient who had uncontrolled seizures since he was a nine year old kid, due to a bike accident. This happened in the 1930's in Connecticut. When he was 27 years old, a neurosurgeon by the name of William Scoville did a lobotomy on this patient, making him THE most famous and most abused patient in the annals of neuroscience. The title is simply "Patient H.M." A must read for anyone who has had or is considering any type of EPILEPSY surgery!! So much was done to this patient. The doctors would have drilled deeper if they could. This is a true story that reads like a science-fiction thriller!
