First of all I hope I'm doing this right! Well I'm 29 years old & I think I had a seizure this weekend. I'm not sure since I've never had one. But it was about 2am when I finally went to bed. I have no idea what time this happened or how long it lasted but some time after going to sleep I woke up feeling extremely drunk! I had not had anything at all to drink besides water that night. So I stumbled to the bathroom leaning on my walls for support, sat on the toilet in my pj's feeling so drunk & I was sweating alot! I felt like I had alcohol poisoning. I felt okay enough to walk to my recliner where I fell asleep. When I awoke I notice my jaw was clenched very tight. When I had let go I had notice I had bitten the inside of my mouth real bad! My left cheek was not to bad, but my right cheek was horrible it looked & felt like raw hamburger meat! And some weird way I bit the bottom front inside my lip! The rest of the day I felt fine just alil tiered. Please if anyone could give me some feed back it would be appreciated! I am very worried since during the day it's just me & my 3yr old daughter. :(

That's how I feel when I wake up in the night with low blood suger. I wouldn't assume it's a seizure til you've been to your primary care physician and talked it over with them. Be as accurate and detailed as possible, so they can get the full story.

I'm hypoglycemic, so my blood suger is often low and when it gets too low I crash from it. The drunk/confused/off feeling, dizzy, sweating a lot and hot. That all sounds like a blood suger crash to me.

If your blood suger gets low enough, it can induce a seizure, however. Glucose is the main fuel source for your brain, along with oxygen. If your blood suger gets too low, your brain doesn't have the fuel it needs, and you can faint, have a seizure, and all sorts of other nasty things can happen. It's really rare for it to get that low, but it can and does happen. Low blood glucose can also induce muscle spasms as well, which could explain the bites.

I would ask your doctor to get your blood glucose levels checked. They normally are between 80 and 100. 125 would be pre-diabetic, 150+ would be diabetic. Below 80 without fasting is hypoglycemia. It's the opposite of diabetes.

Don't assume it's a seizure right off the bat. :) The simplest solution is typically the best solution, so in your case I'd look at blood suger, and insulin levels in your blood. A simple blood draw is all you'll need. If you are having low blood suger, eat a banana and some peanut butter crackers before you go to bed. They digest slowly and will keep your blood suger stable throughout the night. :)

Thanxs for ur insight silat. I thought it might be my sugars since i am a diabetic. And my sugars before eating anything at all was 127 that morning. And i've been checking my sugars ever since and none of them have been lower then 111 & the highest was 143.

Are you taking the diabetes medications for your insulin, or are you already on insulin?

Excessivly high blood suger, or a lack of insulin in the blood, can trigger the same effect for the same reasons. The blood suger is incapable of making it to your brain because of the lack of insulin in your blood, causing the crash in much the same way, but with high blood suger levels. In your case, since you're diabetic, it's likely to be caused by your insulin levels, not your blood suger levels, as you're aware they're already higher than normal. :)

My father is a diabetic, so he's had similar problems to what you're describing. I've seen how it goes, though I've no personal experience with diabetes because I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to blood suger.

Also be aware, having too much insulin in your blood can induce seizures. So if you take insulin, and you're taking too much, you could induce a seizure from there being so much insulin concentrated in your blood. :)
