Hi. I am new on here. I feel that this will be very helpful to me b/c I dont have anyone to talk to about this really. I had my first seizure in 2012. They put me on Dylantin and I had been on that up until November 2013 b/c I was still having seizures but they were beginning to become more frequent and out of control. So, they put me on Keppra. I'm not crazy about it. I was wondering if i could get some feedback. I'm pretty sure that I have seizures when I sleep at night. One night I was on the floor and my husband trying to get me to come to. Also, I wake up with bruises and scratches. The very worst part is I have messed the bed several times. But, I don't wake until after the mess part. The other day, I took a nap for an hour and when I woke up I had messed myself. This was the first time this has happened during the day. I am still so upset about it. I have bought diapers and wear them at night. Has this happened to anyone else? Does it sound like seizures in my sleep? Or maybe I have something else going on? I have never messed myself when I have had a seizure during the day.

Do you have seizures when you are awake too only when you are asleep? I only have them when I'm awake. I don't think I have them in my sleep because my husband and I sleep in separate bedrooms. This does sound like you are having a seizure though.

I know there are people on here that have messed themselves during a seizure. I've read that people keep an extra pair of underwear with them or have started wearing diapers.

I'd talk to your neuro about it because it could be a side effect that you are having from the Keppra?

I have seizures in my sleep and when I have a seizure , I usually lose control of my bladder. That's how I know I've had one during the day when I've taken a nap or it just happens.

Hi suzyq75 , welcome to CWE!

It does sound likek you are having seizures at night. You need to let your neuro know about what's going on, and discuss changing your dose or your medication. if you don't like how you feel on the Keppra, tell your neuro -- there are other meds out there to try.
