Well, I saw my neurologist last week after trying Keppra for 6 months, and during the 6 months I felt pretty well...up until 2 weeks before my appt. At that time I started with all my symptoms again...first started smelling things no one else smelled. Then loss of taste, numbed sensations, fatigue, moodiness, trouble concentrating, minor short term memory issues, not feeling like myself, nausea...These symptoms don't occur all the time, or even all in a day but I have had them for almost 3 weeks now. The Doc said it would be good to increase my Keppra since I seemed to get relief from it but he wasn't convinced that I am having seizures because my symptoms last for weeks at a time. He said if I was having a seizure the symptoms would last for a few minutes and go away. So I am wondering from those suffering with the symptoms, is that true? My first EEg 2 years ago was normal...the 3 since then have all been abnormal (nonspecific) with slowing in the left temporal lobe. I am starting to feel crazy and wonder if I seriously need a psych consult?! I hate feeling that way! But, I truly don't believe I have a mental disorder. I have had one episode of clinical depression for 14 years ago. And I was actually on Zoloft while having these symptoms 7 months ago. They took me off the blood pressure meds (for tachycardia) and Zoloft (for possible depression) 6 months ago and like I said I had a great 6 months?! I just read his notes online that said he reviewed my MRI from dec 2011 again that had been read as normal and he noticed there was slight increased signal in the left hippocampus, so what does that mean?
Just feeling so ready for this "fog" to wear off! I will see him again in 6 months for repeat MRI and EEg...any knowledge or input is helpful. My biggest concern is that simple partial seizures are so vague, how can one tell if they are having them or effects of them and how long do they last? Can mine be manifesting in all these symptoms that are lasting for weeks?
