Hello. My name is Abigail. I am a stay at home mother of two beautiful, young daughters. F is 2 and G is 10 months old. They make me very happy :)

I have struggled with chronic migraines for a year and a half now and amnisia as well due to lack of sleep. Normal most would say.. but it was scary when I couldn't remember what I was saying or doing for about a month.

Just yesterday I went to the park and saw a friend I hadn't seen in years and she had worked with people who had seizures before. At some point she told me that my lip twitched and I slurred my words. I don't remember anything. After I got home I slept hard for over 12 hours. It didn't help that my head started to hurt when I got home.

My biological mother has grand mal seizures so its possible I might have something.. I just feel alone and I'm not sure where to go. I called my Dr and will see him Monday, but until then, I need help and may continue to need help and support of those who understand.

Thank you! Abi

Hi and welcome to CWE.

The people in this forum have been go good at sharing what they have gone through. I'm 60 and I didn't find this forum until last July.
I was so glad to read you have a Dr. appt. Monday.
It would a big help to you and the Dr. if you keep a seizure/headache diary. Write down anything and everything you can recall that could play a part in triggering the possible seizures.

Some triggers for some are lack of sleep, stress, some foods --there are many more.

There are so many different likes of seizures, along with many meds. used to treat them. One med. might work for one person, but not the next.

My seizures are not the ones you describe, my are absence/partial seizures.

I do KNOW what it feels like to feel alone and not knowing where to turn.
Please know that you are not alone.
Feel free to go into all the diff. forums, you can also SEARCH.

My prayers will be you on Monday.

Not to scare you but this sounds alot like some of the seizures that I have.

I'll slur my speech during a seiuzre or sometimes just talk but nothing makes sense, I don't know I'm doing it I think I'm just talking normal. After a seizure I'll have horrible headaches that last for hours. Then I'll fall asleep, sometimes waking up a few hours later still having the headache. I'll usually sleep most of the day after the seizure. And I have very bad memory problems, espically with things that happen before, during and after the seizure.

As jyearta said sometimes the first med that they put you on won't work and they will have to try a few others before they find the right one for you.

Glad you made the dr appt and are getting in to see him on Monday. Hope you get an answer and things go well.

This website is great and you'll always get good answers for your questions.

Hi Abigail, welcome to CWE!

The migraines you've been having may in fact have been simple or complex partial seizures. (Migraines and seizures are close cousins). Amnesia is a pretty serious symptom, and definitely worth a trip to the neuro to get checked out. As jyearta suggests, a seizure diary can be a big help, both to you and to your doctor. You may be able find a pattern, or identify triggers. The #1 trigger is fatigue, but they can run the gamut of physical, physiological, emotional, and environmental stressors.

I recommend that you write down all the questions you have for the doc, and then write down the answers too. And feel free to come back here and post with any additional questions. We aren't doctors (with the exception of one or two members), but we've got a lot of collective experience, and can provide a lot in the way of empathy, support, and anecdotal advice.

Best,
Nakamova

Nakamova, Veleredl, jyearta-

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! :)

Really?? Migraines and seizures are close cousins!? That makes sense to me.. I have seen a neurologist for the amnesia and the did a test for it where they hook up tons of wires to a hat on your head covered in goo (EEG I think).. I slept for 2 or 3 days after that.. nothing can touch my head with out it causing terrible pain! :( No pony tails, no berets or hair clips.. nothing. I still can't figure that out. I should keep a journal. I also have carpel tunnel in my wrist.. Go me! LOL! ^_^

And fatigue is probably my biggest enemy.. I hardly ever get to sit and eat one meal.. I get breakfast at lunch or dinner time..

So where would be a good place to start? I was reading some of the stories this morning and was so encouraged that I wasn't the only person who has to sleep like a ton after an episode.. I have noticed that I have had to sleep "all of a sudden" for hours with out even being exhausted.. I just feel lost.. Ya know?

Thank you for everything! This is most definitely the most encouraging and I'm so glad I stumbled upon your site while trying to find answers :) This is an answer to my prayers!

Thanks again,
Hopefull
