Can anyone please give me some advice on how to relief my sore muscle neck pain. I Ihave an idea it is the Levetiracetam (Keppra/Redilev) that causes it. I get it on a regular basis usually after 2-3 days of headaches. My wonderful husband will massage my neck and it give little relief but not a lot.

Do pain relievers help at all? Also, moist heat (like a warm washcloth) can help with muscle swelling.

You might want to see a physical therapist, who could do ultrasound to relieve the pain, as well as help determine which muscles are involved, and what exercises you can do to relieve the pain and or prevent it on the future.

The exercises outlined in this video may help as well, but if any of the movements cause pain, stop.

How about a chiropractor? I was seeing a chiropractor for a muscle spasm in my neck. The muscle spasm was swollen and increased the amount of my seizures. He worked the muscle spasm out and my seizures decreased a little. Icing my neck at night also helps.

Does Keppra control your seizures? If not, maybe a new seizure med might help.

Ice is my very bestest friend ... lol. It really helps. Ice the back of your neck for ten or fifteen minutes. You can also try a combination of heat ten minutes and ice ten minutes. I used to love those rice bags. Someone said just buy cheap tube socks, fill one with rice. Heat in microwave for a minute... be careful not too long or it will burn you. Somehow, the rice makes moist heat???? Or it just feels that way. Either way, it is very soothing.
