I've got stink bugs all over my house and it's driving me crazy. I think I find at least 5 a day! :soap:

Does anyone know of a way to get rid of them with out calling an exterminator? I know you can spray soapy water around your doorways but it's been under 20 degrees here lately and I don't want it to freeze. I've read other things like that but I think it's too cold out to do it for the same reason.

I've been flushing them down the toilet when I catch it right now.

Oh my, if you only have 5 a day that's nothing! We live in rural West Central Il. Near the Il River. My Mom lives in the Country in an old 2 story Victorian house that gets TONS of stink bugs (they look like lady bugs only yellowish and boy do they stink) in the fall especially and they like the side of the house the sun comes up at. They love the upstairs best (I assume because its warmest)and are all around the window panes and hard to kill.

We always vacume them and take outside and throw away. A lot get killed in the vacuuming process. They are hard to kill. An exterminater is not werth the money Mom says. Good luck!!! :)

Get a dog that's a serious hunter. I haven't found a bug in my house in many a year. Before dogs, tons!

They are everywhere. The other day at work one of them cralwed across my desk. At first I thought it was a roach. I flush them down the toilet too.

We also have those annoying orange lady bugs. They bite.

I have 2 cats and they aren't even close to being hunters!!! I'll notice them staring at something on the wall or playing with something on the floor. Half the time it's a stink bug.

I read that it's not good to vacuum them because the smell of them will stay in the vacuum, this causes more to come. Plus it you want to actually kill them, which doesn't always happen in the vacuum, and that is what you want to do.

Most everything I read said to put them in a bottle of soapy water so you won't smell them and they don't smell each other, or flush them down the toilet. Don't kill them before you put them in the water, let them drown.

I've never noticed they smell and I was squishing them in a Kleenex and throwing them in the garbage.

I was reading in bed the other night and felt something on my finger. Looked and it was a stink bug! I almost screamed.

Also after I went to the bathroom one day when I stood up there was one on the toilet seat! I'm hoping it fell off my shirt when I stood up and I wasn't sitting on it!

Over the summer we got those lady bugs really bad, haven't seen any since then. They were all over the place, inside and out. Never got bit by one though so I must be lucky! Hopefully this summer they won't be as bad as they were.

I've done as many things on that list that I can do right now. It's the middle of winter here so there's a lot I can't do that is on there.

I live in a house that is 80+ years old and it's got a ton of cracks in it, especially the basement. I know that's how they are probably getting in mostly through those. I've tried to seal off as much as I can but it's about impossible to get them all.

From what I know from people around here that suffer from them, its an on going process that you continue to fight . The worst is Summer and Fall. That's when all the "tricks come out of the bag" so to speak. Thank goodness the majority die, or maybe hibernate not sure, for the winter, gives you a break. They are a mess though.

The vacume Mom uses is a Sop Vac, not her indoor vacume. Its got a much stronger suction to it also. :)

The best offense is a good defense -- i.e., blocking the entry points. Ideally, you'd have an "energy audit" done, seal up the drafty areas, and end up with fewer stinkbugs AND lower heating bills...

I think my cat would eat them...she loves bugs...but I don't think we have stinkbugs here...we do have a lot of flies and knats and black widows and daddy longlegs...that is when the weather heats up and trust me here in Cali...oh boy HOT TAMALES

I use to live in Texas and that was a different kind of heat lol...my wife use to live in Texas also and we refer to it as moving from the armpit to the shoulder...or from the crotch to the belly lol

All my cats do is play with them or stare at them if they are on the walls, that's usually how I find them so easy. My cats really don't want anything to do with people food unless it's lunchmeat or cheese.

My cat always wants to eat my food...but I only ever give her a little nibble...yeah usually it's egg or meat...ewww lunch meat? seriously? That stuff is nasty...loaded in preservatives and other unhealthy junk...I'd never eat that or give that to my cat...we cook fresh foods (organic if possible) in the crockpot, stainless steel pans, or oven...yeah teflon is bad mmmkay lol

but anyway...I can't wait till the praying mantis's come out...they're so pwetty! :D

We've got praying mantis all over the place here in the summer!

Yeah I love em! but for some reason ladybugs seem to love me the most :D
