Hi everyone!
just wanting a bit of advice, im currently on Epilim EC200 and they are swapping my meds to Lamictal. i almost made it to twelve months seizure free but theres always next year has anyone got any advice or warnings for me?

hi!

I found Lamictal better then Epilim because it makes me less tired, although it's not as good as controlling my petit mals, so I've currently just been switched to Epilim. I've also almost been grand mal free for a year- 3 months to go! Time will tell, everyone reacts to certain meds differently, hope you find Lamictal effective and good, it's always a worry changing around with meds!

Hey,

I was taking epilim 1000mg a day + 200mg lamictal per day, then after being seizure free for over 5 years I started to withdraw from epilim and increase lamictal. I am now taking 200mg and 300mg respectively. I do have little jerks from time to time, but better that than tonic clonics.

Lamictal is working out great for me, and all side effects of epilim are pretty much gone. My advice is simply to avoid stress, and when that isn't possible, develop some techniques to keep you focused and in control.

What is the dosage you will be taking?

Lamictal is an excellent drug for me. It took about 6 months to start working. I've not had seizures for a very long time. It's my understanding that Lamictal must be gradually introduced to a person's system. I take brand name only.

Some of us absolutely cannot tolerate it. I have personally not had the negative side effects. It's just something to be aware of when you start it.

I totally agree with stress management. If you can, take a walk with a friend. Music is also very therapeutic for me. I can listen to it for days. Is there a seizure response/alert dog association in your area? In my area, the dogs who fail to be seeing eye dogs become well trained pets. Dogs are extremely therapeutic, too.

Cooties...just another way of adding a layer of ignorance to epilepsy. Anyway, dogs wouldn't care about cooties if they existed. Heck, they drink out of toilets, eat disgusting things and clean themselves before they kiss their owners. My dog is from the pound. She's extremely devoted to me and never leaves my side. It's a priceless devotion.

Been there with the cootie experience myself. Cootie immunization shots by 'acceptable' peers, the touch run and screem contaminations and bullying. Some people are simply very ignorant. If it affects your work, life or schooling then you have a right to speak up about the taunting and unacceptable behavior. I believe some people call that harassment.
