Bet that thread title got your attention, eh?

A funny thing I noticed today. A few months after starting Vimpat and I'm sleeping still as could be. Its great. My sleep is sound, I feel better, and my wife is not getting punched, kicked, or slapped when I sleep.
The down side? My muscles are shrinking.
I've always been a muscular build, but I'm getting love handles and my pecs are getting small. I guess that goes with getting old, too, huh?
If this is an exchange for being controlled? I'll take it. :D

Don't think I'm complaining. Just being light-hearted.

Guess I'll slow down on the fast food and get back to working out. Right... after... this... beer...

I gave up my gym membership that I had since 2001 about 8-9 months ago. I was so worn out, probably from having uncontroled partial seizures. Since I'm on meds now and feeling better I rejoined a gym in December. I must have lost a couple pounds because this morning I put on a pair of jeans that had been to tight to button and today they fit comfortably. Of course my favorite part of the work out is the hydro massage before I leave.

Oh. That has to feel so good. I recently started seeing a chiropractor. I FLOAT out of that place.

I like to get massages. My muscles tend to get tight, especially my legs and shoulders when I'm working a lot in the spring and summer. It loosens up the muscles and gets rid of that icky feeling I get after having had a bunch of seizures in a few days. I think my partials somehow flood my system with something. Adrenaline? I don't know, but there has to be some chemical stuff going on to have those long-term effects.

As for being 100% controlled, I wouldn't have the faintest idea of how that would be. I doubt if I've gone 2 weeks, if that, in the last 33 years without having a partial. In the last 15 or so it's probably been no more than 5 or 6 days.

I'm 100% controlled. The downside is that over the last 6 years, I've gone grey, wrinkly, and flabby. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that I'll be turning 50 this year...

Seriously, I would like to be in better shape, but I don't think I can blame the epilepsy or the meds much. I was able to lose about 20 lbs. last year. I've gained some of it back over the winter, but I'm hoping to shed it again soon. And then maybe carve out some time to work on muscle tone...

I'd take 100% control with some side effects since Ive never had it with any combo.I'm on 4 drugs now Tegretol,TopamaxOnfi and Phenobarb and I'm tired almost always and I came off of Clonazepam just .5MG was all I was taking.
I hope to come down on Phenobarb when see my neuro in March.

Speeding tickets. I have places to be!

I've gained some of it back over the winter

Blame it on the subzero temps Nak :)…. Although, this warm weather we have had the last few days is a nice treat even if it is raining.

I definitely blame it on the weather P-Funk! And maybe a few of those Christmas cookies I snarfed... Agree about the current weather. I can get used to balmy.

Totally. I've been wondering the same thing lately. Though I'm having tonic clonics at night, their effects are far more tolerable to me than what happens with the partials. With tonic clonics, there's the exercise pain, which for me is very easy to deal with. I get really sleepy for a couple of days, which is hardly intolerable if you have the freedom to sleep, which I do. And I've recently discovered here that my headaches are okay if I add a good dose of caffeine to my inbuprofen. On the other hand, partials leave this lingering feeling of just being ill and out of it. I get auditory hallucinations (which are currently driving me to insanity), I feel like fainting all the time, my body temperature runs amok, and I can barely cope with anything during the day. I would love to know what that's all about.

You consider 27 OLD? OMG.......... You gotta get control of your thinking........ wait 'til your over 40....... or 50....... will you still be working out then? Or will that beer be working on your belly? :)

Cint, I'm GETTING old. :P
I have had extremely high metabolism even to this point. I don't know if that is what is changing or what. I'm pretty sure its the lack of movement in my sleep. I plan on living to 2000 anyways.

Nak, I believe myself and Mr E have been over this. GREY is SEXY! :D

It does sound like some atrophy of muscular tissue has happened.

My seizures are completely controlled. I am not controlled. That sounded like a trick question.

Maybe there is an overactive thyroid involved there. I'm always getting a liver function and thyroid function test. But, I'm not on vimpat.

GREY is SEXY!

I used to think that Chiropractors where basically Quacks It wasn't for me, that was for sure. I thought the only people who might really benefit were the one with bad spinal issues, and that maybe the relief was mostly in their heads afterwards anyways. UNTIL my wife convinced me in 2001 to try it! I had learned how much it had helped her with her neck injury due to a horse kicking her, so I figured why not? I saw her neck x-rays from the injury and years long recovery, amazing what was done without one bit of surgery!

Anyway, I continue to see a Chiropractor to this day on a regular basis and I am convinced it does help my seizure activity! Even if that is just in my head, my spine sure feels damn good!

As for "GREY is Sexy", it reminded me of something: I see a "Just a for Men" commercial, I like to tease my wife with "What do you think about me getting some of that to darken my hair?". Sometimes she replies "What do you think about me getting a divorce?"... I never quite know sometimes if she is kidding, lol...

When the Dr was aligning my back, he was able to show my wife exactly what he was doing and show how it effected the rest of my body. Truly an interesting science.

STA?, maybe your wife would be more into the punk rock scene? How is green, blue, or pink? I've had all of the above. I'm going to stick with my natural brown, though.

I have a fast metabolism as well, but my diet is awful lately. I'm getting a little chunk on the lower belly, but I kind of like it haha! I blame the fact that I hate core exercises. Plus I can't put the breads down. ugh!

LOL, I don't think those colors would go over well! My wife definitely isn't into the punk rock scene and I wouldn't try. The music gives her headaches. Butthole Surfers' "Independent Worm Saloon" comes to mind as well as Biohazard, she can't stand it. Similar thing with my taste in metal, like Ministry (their industrial metal/thrash metal years) and RATM for example. Despite having a wide range of taste in music, she is a "country girl" at heart.

I agree that Chiropractic Care is an interesting science.

HAHA. STA?, I like your choice in music.

Fighter, I think were on the same carnival ride.
