First off this thread has nothing to do with epilepsy, medicine, test results, dr visits or anything of that sort.

This is about all the other little or big things in life that make you happy, laugh or get excited over.

For me I'm a big animal lover. I live out in the country so just about any time I'll look out the window there is something out there.

I've had fox run all over the back yard, recently there's been a whole family of wild turkey (about 7 total) that have been roaming about.

I live near farms and once we actually had to pull over on the road so a heard of cow that had gotten loose could pass us down the road! (This one really made me laugh)

The things that I get excited over the most is seeing a opossom in my back yard. I've actually jumped up and down like a little kid when I see one, and I'm 35 (is that ok?). I always throw food out and it comes and gets it. One year I had three that came regiously at about 7pm to get their supper. They were almost tame, but I would have never tried to pet them. I could go outside while they were all eating and talk to them, they would even climb a tree that is right by the window and look in to see what I was doing.

So what about you guys, what gets you happy?

I'm a nature freak too, city-girl variety. I get psyched just watching a robin eat a worm, or seeing a bunny hop around during my daily walk. It's a real bonus when I catch sight of a Great Blue Heron or a Baltimore oriole. I always claim the window seat so I can ooh and aah at the clouds, or at the tiny shapes below, or at the coastline. I can stare at the ocean, the stars, or a fire in a fireplace and it makes me unreasonably happy.

Recently I've become smitten with... my new houseplant. It's a purple shamrock that I planted as a bulb and nurtured over the last few months. It's rewarded me with beautiful purple leaves that open during the day and fold up at night. I have a black thumb, so chances are I won't have the plant for long, but I'm thrilled at watching the progress it's one's made so far.

2 years ago a little girl racoon drug herself up on my deck, half dead. All the fur from her back was gone, most of her ears were missing, and her leg was so bad that she was dragging it, and I could see the bone. Anybody that knows me-know that I cannot take that kind of thing, and finishing her off was not something I could do. I could tell that she had had some babies, but assumed that they were gone, and she was probably injured fighting to protect them. Being who I am-I got some cat food, amoxacillan, and water, and proceeded to take them out to the deck to try to make her as comforatable as possible. She was wild, so I was not about to touch her or bring her in. She ate, drank, and rested about a foot from me for about an hour. I didn't have much hope for her. This went on for about a week. The last night she came, she just laid down beside me, and gave a big sight, like she was so tired, and slept. I was really worried that she was giving up. Two weeks had passed, and I had assumed the worst, that she had died, but she showed up with the tiniest baby raccoons that I had ever seen. Her milk had dried up, and they needed food. She comes to see me most every night. I only allow her, and no other raccoons or former offsring to come to the deck. She does quite well with three legs, but I wonder if she is in pain with the one that has curled up. It is so fun to whats what a good mother she is with her babies. I never touch her-I know I could, but realize that she is wild, and if something where to startle her I might get bitten. She however will yank on my pant leg, if I don't notice her to let me know she is here! She love grapes, and chocolate. I give her much respect for being such a strong animal for surviving such an ordeal, and to continue to survive, as I am sure other animals could smell the bloom, but she manage to stay safe. I think the are a lot smarter that we give them credit for. When she come to visit me-I always smile.

That is wonderful bazpa, not many people would do that. I'm probably one like you that would do it however!

@valeriedl - I live in the suburbs and have a visiting possum or family of possums. (sorry, where I live we drop the first o:P) I would put carrots or something out, but the little visitor drives my baby dog crazy. Sometimes I'll forget and let her out after dark and she starts barking her head off, I go outside and find her barking at the fence where the possum is sitting and taunting her:)

@ bazpa - love your raccoon story!:)

As for what makes me happy, definitely my precious doggie! She's so sweet and always knows what to do to make me smile.

travel bug , i agree ! we have 2 dogs and a cat who was left by the previous residents , i love them all but my oldest lady bug ( hence my name ) is 7 yrs old now and shes my soul puppy , no matter how awful of a day im having , all she has to do is come over and put her chin on my knee and give me that look and the famous lab tail thump and it suddenly doesnt seem so bad , she has laid with me and let me cry all over her , ran and jumped & played when i was happy , quietly laid next to me when i was mad at the entire world and been there through everything ( good and bad ) i just love my lady bug !

One of the things that makes me very happy is when a group of our friends all get together and we go on a camping, trail ridding, mudding trip. We do this 4 times a year. I know its not for everyone but I always have a fun filled weekend. Its a major stress releiver.
We all arrive on friday and set up camp, some of the guys will go out and scoot the trails to see how much mud is out there, then we have a big dinner and bombfire. You can sit there and look up at the nights sky and see millions of stars.
On saturday we all have a good breakfast, pack our lunch and head out for the trails. Its a convey of Jeeps and 4x4 trucks. When we hit the trails is when all the fun starts, we go through deep mud wholes and water areas. If anyone gets stuck we all stop and wait till they get pulled out. If anyone breaks down, anyone who has mechanical knowledge works on that vehicle until its up and running again. We have a saying, "No one left behind". At the end of the day eveyone is wet and muddy, laughing, and already telling stories about what happened that day.
The best thing about all of this is that its like being with family, no one holds anything against you, they all care, and no matter what happens or how you feel everyone makes sure that you have a wonderful time.
Unfortunatly my husband and I were unable to go this last time due to some medical issues I was having with a sinus and inner ear infection and my E.

bazpa,

ohhhhhhhhhh...... so sweet.

I think animals know when we love them and are helping them. :)

Jeannie --
It's nice to have a regular get-together to look forward to, isn't it? I do a lakeside Labor Day bash every year with a group of friends -- some of whom I've known for over 20 years -- and everyone is all smiles all weekend long.

I LOVE to read so getting & reading new books makes me happy. Or, enjoying an old favorite is great too.

Awesome replies in here! I live in a busy area where there's a lot of traffic. Yesterday, I found it thrilling to go for a joy ride in the country with my dog. I'm not sure which one of us was thrilled the most during this trip. We also went shopping.
My other thrills are drawing and piano. Both get me into a zone that's great, especially if I am up to speed with a piano piece.
