How do you manage your meds when you travel? Travel can be tiring and stressful; which we don't need. But then if you change time zones 3 or 4 hours, what do people with regards to taking their meds?

This is just my opinion because I don't travel much, espically time zones, but I'd still keep taking your meds at your normal times. I know traveling can be stressful, espically around holiday time, and I wouldn't want to make any big changes with med times.

If it's only a few hours difference I take the meds at the normal time (in the new time zone), and do my best to re-set my sleep clock as quickly as possible. Usually I do this by getting plenty of mid-morning sun in the new location, and taking only short naps so that I will feel sleepy at the proper time.

My meds are in 25 mg increments (I take three 25mg pills in the a.m. and three at night), so for larger time changes I stagger the pill-taking for the first few days: One pill when I would normally take it in the old time zone, one pill in between, and one pill at the new "normal" time.

meds and time zones

Last year my husband and I went on a cruise for our 30th anniversary (two years late). For us it meant traveling literally half way around the world. I was terrified about the full 12 hour difference and how I would take my meds and still not seize...my doctor told me to shift the times so that the spread between doses stayed the same but the hour would catch up and vice vewrsa on the way back. I stayed upright most of the trip (yeah) only two mishaps and no major injury...I may have limped thru Malta, but I was there:woot:

Thanks to everyone that had suggestions. I just tried to keep it approximately every 8 hours like I do at home. Since we are now visiting Australia 12-15 hours time change it really hasn't been too difficult. I'll stick to that too when we come home and just try and keep well hydrated and try and sleep as much as possible.....
