evening all ,my name is Lisa-Marie i joined epilepsy forum to learn new information ,i'm not epileptic but my husband is he has been since he was teenager . like to hear from other people with same condition i'm very worried so any information anybody may have ill be very grateful thanks :)

warm welcome lisamarie,

there is always a listening/caring/sharing ear here at CWE.....

what kind of seizures does you hubby have? Is he on medication?

The more you educate yourself on epilepsy the less you will worry, because you don’t want that to take over, would not be good for you or your husband…like you it’s not me how has E but my Son and he is 27, diagnosed at 23.

I often share this link because I found the info very good, look past the word child as this info is applicable to much more than children, even covers fear and guilt. Maybe you can take a moment to read.

thank you very much ,yes he is on carbazaphine and lamorgrine he has full blown fits and petamol fits but at the moment they are controlled but he is changing his medication to epilim in few weeks time ,i will have a read through thank you .

why are they changing med if his seizure are well controlled?

don’t hesitate to throw all your questions out, CWE clan will have feedback for you....

we keep a detailed seizure dairy, which has been a godsend when we look back at potential seizure triggers, helps with doc appointments and shows patterns.....simple book, with date/time and type of seizure will do and we also note circumstances like stress…..or even pinpoint nutrition concerns (that may trigger reaction)..

as he will change meds, keep close eye for anything out of the norm..and a diary will help

he is a lucky man to have a wonderful wife who is looking to educate herself, it will bring huge support to both of you, read up and read some more ;)

I agree with Chaz. try not to worry. This is a normal part of your husband's life. If you keep a diary you can learn more about the pattern (if any) of your husbands seizures. Also it will give you an idea about his behaviours before he has one. It will also give you a clue to his triggers. I know this must be very daunting for you Lisamarie but the more you learn, the less frightened you will become and you will be able to handle each situation better. Good luck to you and your hubby.

evening sorry for late reply ,there changing his meds as the meds he is on are making him have memory loss forgetting things ,i have make sure everyday my hubby takes his meds as he forgets and may take a overdose it has happened and was very scary especially for my husband he suffering with mouth uclers and mouth sores and there so painful he cant sleep so he has pain killers to help with the sores so the doctor at hospital thinks its best for my hubs to change to epilim but doing it slowly over 5 weeks but i'm really worried because when he was 16 they gave him epilim but had to change to meds his on now carbamazepine and lamotrigine because he was fitting twice a day while he was on epilim so i don't understand why there putting him back on epilim again when he can fit again ,maybe he body can handle it now he a lot older ,I have a dairy i keep note of the fits he has what there like ,how long it lasts all that information , i now know what triggers him to have fits thank the lord he hast had a fit since august and i hope it stays that way , i hate seeing him have a fit its very scary stuff but it even more scary for my husband to go through it . thank you both so much i am willing to learn anything that can help my husband :)

Hi and welcome,

Your husband is lucky to have you, someone who is trying to learn about epilepsy and seizures in order to help him.

I too have a lot of mouth sores. I take L-Lysine, you can find this in the Vitamin section at most stores.

You might want to ask his Dr. first or talk with the Pharm.

thank you chaz and jyearta that has really helped me :) i will tel my hubby about the vitimans it may help his mouth sores :)
