I had my VNS implanted last June. The only issue I have is shortness of breath. Even when I do something small like laundry or go up stairs. It's almost impossible to exercise but they tell you to exercise to stay healthy. I want to do some form of exercise but its not going to work if I can't breath all the time. Has anyone had this issue? I there anything the Drs can do to help this?

Hi VS, welcome to the forum. :hello:

I think many VNS patients have described similar shortness of breath issues. Some people get used to it I guess. Maybe some of our resident VNS patients will weigh in with their personal experience.

Hi Val,

I've had the VNS since 1998 and in April of this year had my 2nd battery replacement surgery. I occasionally have shortness of breath when out walking/bike riding, but not to the extent where I cannot go any at all. If it is effecting you that bad, call your dr. and ask to have the pulse generator settings changed and check the bipolar leads. I did have my settings changed several times for better seizure control, tho. Good luck.
