Yesterday morning I noticed on my oldest son's eye area, it looked alittle swollen. He had what looked like a pimple next to his eye brow area. I walked him into school, and had the school nurse take a look at it, and she said it didnt look bad, and had him stay for school. I told her if he complained of it hurting, to call me.

The day went ok I guess, becuase he didnt call to come home. So we pick the kids up from school, and to me, it looked worse! It was slightly swollen in the morning, and by the time he got home, I could see a difference! So I gave his pedia dr a call. I spoke with a nurse, and they wanted to see him last night at 6:45pm. So we took him in, and becuase Ive had MRSA this year, they said they wanted to be causious and prescribe a Sulfa medication for him. Im allergic to sulfa, but I dont think my son is. We went to pick it up last night, and he took his first dose last night at 8pm, and his second dose this morning at 7am. It just keeps looking worse! So I kept him home today from school. I called the school to let them know the swelling has picked up, and he's been put on antibiotics, but Im waiting to hear back from the dr to see if this is normal.

I had to be put on Clindamyacin... I probably spelled that wrong... but because he has never taken medication by pill form, they prescribed him a liquid antibiotic. They said the Clindamyacin does come in liquid, but he would have to take 5.5 teaspoons, 3 times a day, and it tastes horriable! :( So, the dr prescribed him some sulfa which is grape flavored that he takes twice a day, 3.5 teaspoons every time.

Im waiting on a call back from the drs office to see if the swelling is normal. I just want to make sure the right medication was given to him for this to heal.

So Im home with the oldest today. Thought Id get to take a small nap this morning since I was up worrying about him all night. Maybe he will take a nap for me today? :ponder: Probably not though! :roflmao:

I hope that the swelling goes down today! It sounds like they really don't know what is going on but I'm glad he is on antibiotics. I hope it comes back normal.
Good luck with the nap! Maybe even wish for some down time! Put on a movie and snuggle in on the couch.

Thanks! Yeah I Called and spoke with a nurse, she said since he's only had two round of antibiotics to keep up on them, watch it and see if if it gets worse, to call them. In the meantime, to use warm compresses for the swelling. He's been playing video games all day, and I took a nice nap on the couch. I needed it after my worrying sleepless night I had last night! In a couple of hours the other two kids will be home. LOL I need to get somethings done around here!

I hope the little guy is gonna be ok. If he's playing video games all day and taking naps. It sounds like he is at least having a little fun.

Hope it's nothing serious and that the antibiotics kick in soon!

Thanks everyone! Im praying the medication works. The dr said she thought the swelling might have got worse since he had been laying down when sleeping all night, and it was fluid build up. But its been the same since 6:40am when we woke up. I do have some ointment that I put on it, thats suppose to help treat mrsa. Looking at it yesterday, I thought its possible thats what it could be... but then after waking up today, my gut is telling me thats what it is. :( My question to the nurse today when I called was if the sulfa was going to do the trick and take care of it? I was put on Clindamycin, and thats the only medication that works good for me. I just pray to god that this goes away soon. My dr told me its going to get worse before it gets better... :( I hope thats not the case for my little boy.

Yeah, he's been playing video games all day long! Besides eating lunch and alittle of breakfast, I cant get him off the video games!

Boys will be boys haha, good luck getting him off the video games! No easy task, I've had to convince my younger cousin back in the day.

We finally got him off the games! It took forever, but I finally said enough was enough! He got alittle upset, but went out in the back yard with his brother to watch his brothers play. I just gave him his third dose of medication... They want him on it for 48 hours to see if it gets better... well tomorrow AM's dose will be four doses... if its not better by then, Im for sure calling them back!

Update: I had to take him back into the drs office today... this time we saw a DOCTOR! Not a PA! They cultured it, (didnt have to open the area, just with a q-tip like, they swab'd it) and put him on a new antibiotic... Clindamyacin, like what I took. He got scared about the idea of having to swallow the pills... but the dr said if we have to, we can open the capsule and put it into pudding. But once we did that, he puked everywhere! :( I said he only has two options... to take it in the pudding, or swallow the pill!? He chose to swallow the pill, and did it with no troubles in a second! :) I was so happy! He's never taken any pills before, and I was afraid of having a hard time with him gagging, and such. But he did great! :)

Now, Im going to pray very hard that this helps and gets this healed quickly!

Fingers-crossed that swelling starts to reduce.
