Went to A&E today, I am a little worried, Internet not being helpful.

Note that I am going to speak to my epilepsy nurse about this, and I am going to make a GP appointment (although it is often about 3 weeks to get one)
So today I had 5 seizures, split my head, bit my lip/tongue, hurt my cheek and arm quite badly (accidently took a photo trying to unlock my phone, security thing)

When I was there I got a general checkover and the was poking my stomach and there is this spot that is super painful.
I've been to the doctor for it before and I've always been waved away as stress.

Now I've had it a while, years really. Always hurts if it is poked, sometimes I get this stabbing pain that doubles me over, and its worse when I breathe in.

It is on the right hand side under the ribs where the gallbladder is, the doctor said to me that my epilepsy medication may have damaged some organs there or something - I am rubbish at human anatomy and I don't know what's in there.

Has anyone heard of damage to organs in that area?

Yes it is very possible, am I'm living proof it can.

The follow AEDs: Depakote, Topamax, Zarontin, Zonegran

Caused me severe stomach/groin pain. For close to two years I went to specialists, and had several tests to find out what was the cause of my pains. What was found out was I had small kidney stones, but the kidneys are fine. I had numerous gallstones, and my gallbladder was perforated and had to be removed.

After all that I continue to suffer from irritable bowel symptoms (IBS) & ulcerative colitis (UC).
IMHO hurt me more than my seizures did.

I have been on topamax for years, just switched off it for zonegran (if that is the same as zonisamide)

I am worried it may be gallstones/gallbladder - I don't have any symptoms of IBS.

However for the last three weeks I have thought I had a UTI, I was given antibiotics because the doctors lost my sample about 5 times - but obviously they tested it at A&E last night. She says that there is hardly enough problem to class as an infection.

So now I am worried that that has something to do about it too :/
I just hope I can get a decent appointment, and it doesn't take weeks to get in.

You poor girl that was bad hit the ground one.If you had five biggies leaving you injured WHY no no over night admission. You not said how high up pain is.If Kidny pain high up and more to the back.Gall bladder pain be right hand side abdomen and common also get pain shoulder pain.Gall bladder pain excruciating you can have chronic and acute pain and can have acute on chronic.Do diary if cut all fried and fatty food out of diet and after a week have fatty meal see what happens.
You really should have Mir definatly blood tests on liver. The liver makes bile which you need to digest food the gall bladder is small little bag that hold bile after its made.Bile is pumped out as soon as food leaves stomach high in abdomen straight into small bile..
I trying to think how the fall could make it worse. The fact you had it years then at this point not serious.I do think however a cyst on liver or hernia could do this.Possible you had injury years ago left untreated or you never realised had one and left with this.YOu must be assertive insist on blood test barium meal Mir. have you notice bright pee or whitish poo that can give clue...you can have gall bladder disease with out stones you can have pile stones and show no problems and also have small stone more like gravel and have big problems. Can be arbitrary Are you uk because I think they would admitted you for the night..There saying fair fat and forty is gall bladder problem time but again I have seen young people with it but not often.Renal colic is one of the worse pains you can have I can not see fall making it worse.
If pain has compromised your way of life then you must more than insist. If you American you pay enough insurence and entitled to tests. If uk something gone wrong with system .
Hunny you must feel like crap get early night if uk you to late get early night

Hi Zara-Newman,

I'm so sorry that you had so many seizures and injured your head I've had that happen to me in the past. As Bigman and seagull mentioned it could be your gall bladder or maybe you have kidney stones or infection that happened to me twice and my Dr. told me to drink a lot of fluids along with cranberry juice and water with lemon in it to help get rid of the kidney infection and pass the stones.
A few yrs. ago I was having wicked stomach pain that felt like a knife was going through my stomach and I saw a gastro specialist and they found the one seizure med mysoline that I have been taking for so many yrs. ate up the lining in my intestines. Cut back on the fats, eat yogurt and stay away from a lot of sweets and see if this helps. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Howdy Zara, Also maybe chat to the people in the pharmacology at your hospital, I can due to the fact I have been going to a particular Hospital for a couple of years as part of a drug trial, lets just say the pharmacy can also offer suggestions, not just neurologists, have found myself a little professional tension between the two(in my case), the neurologist ignores the pharmacologist, to a degree, his quote ''he is the neurologist'' not them, when I passed on this message, their response, (due to the language used can't be posted), just made me think 'sometimes' problems can be lack of communication (professional arrogance). The pharmacology department had more ideas/solutions than just upping the dose.

Hi Zara-Newman,
Sorry you had so many seizures and were hurt, I hope you feel better soon.

Update on this, my GP poked at my stomach.
Turned me away with "there is nothing wrong with you"

Just cross your fingers that there isn't or else ignoring it could be nasty.

If There Is Pain There Is Something Wrong!!

Zara-Newman,
You need to find a medical 'professional'(doctor who cares about their patient) to check you out! It sounds like the GP was about as disrespectful as possible. If your GP only poked your abdomen and said there was no problem without doing any kind of tests that doctor is an embarrassment to the medical profession!
It seems to happen all too often today that if something isn't obvious and can treated by popping some pills the doctor is NOT going to try and find what is wrong! This is the reason I try to make sure my doctors are no more than 5 years younger than me(62). At least these doctors learned how to diagnose a problem and fix it before the doctors younger than that learned how to use a prescription pad and pen to use pills to 'fix' all of their patient's problems.
If a doctor isn't willing to do some work to find out what is bothering their patient they are no more than a pill-pusher in a white frock! :twocents:

This current doctor is probably around 50.
I don't know if I come across as untrustworthy, she said it couldn't be anything serious if I had it a long time.

There are only two doctors in my area, one of them I am unable to go to, so I don't have any option until I move.

I can't really get another GP, there are only two near me and the other one isn't an option.
I can't travel for other ones.

you got some shit medical care there. You really need someone VERY assertive with you.Diagnostic tests are there for a reason and Doc should use them.Little tip stand and look down at Doc make him look you in the eye hold his gaze then sit down don't take your eyes off his if he looks away ask him to repeat it looking at you.Are you uk

I've been with my mother; and I've been with my uncle (who is a well known personal injury solicitor, generally feared by doctors)

The thing is, she says that I've had the pain for a long while now, so it obviously isn't worth investigating.
I am UK,
