I have 2 cats and no matter what I buy for them to play with, cheap or expensive, they have nothing to do with them.

My older cat, a little over 10, doesn't really play with toys that much anymore. His favorite thing to play with is an old sock that I filled with cat nip and tied with a know. He can't get enough of that thing.

My younger cat, about 2, will play with bottle caps, clothes pins, pieces of paper, bird feathers I found outside and the little blue rings that come off a milk jug. Her favorite toy though is a piece of yarn that she carries everywhere. Her favorite place to put it is in the water dish then pull it out and leave it sitting on the floor. That thing is really nice to step on!

The only actual toy that she plays with is a doughnut with a ball in it. She wakes me up at night batting that thing around like crazy.

What are some of your pets favorite toys? Maybe this will give me some new ideas to give them something to mess around with.
 
My Winnie loves toys! When I come home from the store, she will look through the bags to see if she has a surprise! Just a little spoiled! Her favorite toy right now is a giraffe that is one of the animals on a kids movie, however, last night a baby raccoon kidnapped the giraffe, and poor Winnie has looked all over the house, and deck for him! Looks like I will be going to Pet Smart. The thing is they always like the one they have slobbered all over better!!! My kids tell me the dogs have more toys, than they did growing up! Well, I was poor, dogs toys are cheaper, and the dogs never ask for money or my car!

I have four cats of my own of various ages. The best thing they like to play with is a screwed up receipt from shopping. To the fact that you can't leave your wallet laying around as the cats will go through it looking for the receipts.

The other is empty toilet rolls and pegs. They love them. They can put their paws into the toilet rolls and try to get them out the other end. Or even an empty box.

I gave up on buying my cats toys as they just like the everyday things. Another is the empty medicine container. like what you get your tablets in when you go to hospital. They go great on tiles. But make sure you take the meds out first. Cats on anticonvulsants isn't good.
 
I only have a budgie, there was two but the male one died so there's just the female left. Her favourite toy is the bird grit! She digs her head around in it and then throws beakfuls across the cage! I never thought budgie could snigger until I heard this one do it. Since the other one died she's obsessed by the mirror with the bell on the bottom too. She snuggles up to it when she's sleepy, and during the day she'll talk to it and occasionally try to move it out of the way to find the "other" bird behind it (her reflection!)

I wish I could have a cat as I love them, but I'm allergic to them :(
 
Our girl likes milk jugs. We put a treat inside, screw the cap back on and she is in husky heaven! of course my back yard looks like a recycling dump....

Inside she likes empty drinking water bottles. She is easy to entertain, and all the other toys that the stores sell that are "indistructable" aren't!!
 
You should get Winnie a toy racoon bazpa, then she can have a toy get back at the racoon who took hers!

When I was living at home one of my cats used to love getting in the dirty clothes hamper in the basement and bring up dirty underware and socks. We would wake up in the morning and find these all over the house.

When I moved I was so excited to see one night that he was playing with a toy mouse. I grabbed the mouse in my hand and started to shake it when I realized it wasn't a toy but a real dead mouse that he had caught and killed!!!! I screamed and he went flying. I threw the mouse outside then went searching for my cat. I had to give him a treat for being such a good boy!

One of my cats is obsesed with watching the toilet flush. After I'd flushed the toilet and washed my hands I went to put the toilet lid down and saw that she was half in the toilet playing with a piece of corn that didn't go down! Sorry I know that's disgusting but it is pretty funny.
 
I have a miniature Dachshund, his name is Elvis- He loves getting NEW toys.
Elvis seems to like to toys that have more of sound than just a squeak.
He has a bird that makes several sounds and a frog that sounds like a frog.
(when I wash the bird and frog they go on and on and on, as I lay them out to dry.
He wants to be able to sling it about, doesn't like to hard rubber ones .

Elvis also has epilepsy and is on Pheno.
 
My dog loves just about anything plush. Or ballistic nylon. He rips them to shreds. Great fun. Thank god for vacuum cleaners.
 
Valeried, That is funny! Winnie hates the raccoon's! When she was little I did not notice one that was in the yard-She took off after it, but did not know how to go down the stairs, and ended up flying down them, and falling hard. Do you know, she is 3 years old, and I have to carry her down the stairs! She has never gotten over it! They say animals don't remember things, but they do. Winnie is also very special-she tells me before I have seizures, so I love her all the more.
 
I only have a gerbil but his favourite toy has always been his wheel. He is active during the day and night (though he does sleep), don't believe those books that tell you gerbils get used to your sleeping habits, they don't (he's my fourth one)!

He loves to use his wheel, especially at night. He also likes to sleep in a tiny cardboard box that I gave him, he has other things that are bigger, but he prefers that for some reason even though he can't fit in it unless he curls up.

Yeah but he has made his nest in the tiny cardboard box, don't know why he wants to live in a cramped "bedroom" when he has a choice.
He did like to chew cardboard and wood but he lost his top teeth a long time ago, which he has been to the vets about. But he somehow manages to still eat and maintain a consistent weight.
 
I used to have gerbils called Fred and George :) they were never interested in the wheel but they loved to dig and chew to pieces anything I put in the tank!

Bob the budgie is currently shrieking to be let out for a fly around. Suppose I better give in to her lol
 
New toys

My dog only likes NEW toys and becomes bored very quickly with the old ones. We go to garage sales and get her a new stuffed animal (50cents) quite often and she is happy as a clam. After we pay for it we like to throw it and yell "go get your new toy!" She'll prance up and down the street so proud with her new toy in her mouth. She looks so cute. Everyone always laughs and thinks it is so funny.
 
My Gabriel (picture) loves the little fur mousies that have the rattle inside, he stores them all over the house so I'll buy a bag then suddenly they're gone (under couches, cushions, furniture...). I found a couple of rubbery sort of circle "8" looking things that are suppose to be imbedded with catnip - he carries those around. Most of the "purchased" toys don't go over well unless they're "interactive" - the mouse or something tied to a string that you have to sit and toss around. Lasers work good intermittently. Beau (my 14 yr old scaredy cat who often lives under the blankets) steals my hair bands (the thicker rubber band things with no metal on them). Lastly a crunched up piece of newspaper tied to a twine which is tied to a stick/dowel, and you whip it around - again, not bought. They're so individual in their preferences.

What is it with cats and hair ties? I have three teenage daughters and my Birman always takes their hair ties. They have hit her in the face and she still goes after them. This is one I am not use to but she loves how they slide across the tiles. She will spend ages with the one hair tie. Nothing is safe with her around. She goes through my wallet for the receipt from shopping as well.

I wish I knew. I've tried to be careful about putting them away so they're not sitting out on the nightstand, but I'm not always that diligent. I tied two together (hoping he'd accept that as his own), but he ignored that and went for mine. Cats...
 
Yeh that is it. Cats. But we love them. As a matter of fact it is cats that has got me through with my epilepsy. I have always had a cat and they always know when something is wrong and you are not well. I actual have two litters at home. On top of my 4 cats. I love them. So if taking a few hair ties is all one of them does, that is ok.
 
My cat loves those lazer pointers too. When I'm done playing with it she gets all confused because she doesn't know where it went and starts searching all over the house for it.

One of my cats, Baxter, always knows when there is something wrong with me. He knows when I have a seizure and lays on me, and won't move until he knows that I'm ok to get up and be moving around.

I had to have a test done today, not for epielpsy, but I came home hurting like crazy after it. I layed down on the couch and he jumped right up on top of me and stayed there forever. The funniest thing too is that I thought I was going to need to get a heating pad to but on my stomach but he went and layed there and kept the spot warm with his body. Aren't they funny sometimes about what they know to do!
 
Yeh they are great to have around. Sorry to hear you had to have tests. Hope is all ok. I can't use a laser we have 4 epileptics in the house. Two are really light sensative so a laser is out of the question. Take care and keep Baxter close.
