Greetings

Hi everyone. I am Thomas, pastor of a small Presbyterian congregation in Western New York. I have been diagnosed with Epilepsy this year February. According to the MRI I have a scar on my brain due to a childhood accident. Started out with Dilentin, did not worked at all so they put me on Kappra, lately that doesn't work either. I am just waiting to be scheduled for a 72 hours - to 10 days EEG. I gratefully would accept advice what to do to prepare for it. Also are there any other pastors here? How do you copy? My congregation is a bunch of amazing people help me where ever they can, but I feel bad I can't do everything what I did before. God bless you all. Thomas

Welcome PT

There's a lot of people here that have gone for EEGs. If it's in the hospital (as opposed to ambulatory) the main thing people suggest is make sure to bring enough things to keep yourself entertained & not get bored.

Hi Thomas, welcome to CWE!

here are some links from the archives that might be helpful:

Ambulatory EEG

I'm sorry the meds haven't worked out for you so far. Unfortunately, it can often take a few tries to find the right one.

Best,

Hello Pastor Thomas. Welcome to CWE! Is this a EEG or a video EEG? Try and keep a record of what is going on each day, try to have a little notebook with you at all times if possiable. If you feel these seizures coming on ,write down the time of day they happend and how you felt when it came on. Keep a list of all meds you take on you also, this will help if you go to er and unconss. Medicine works different on each person. One of my meds is Keppra and that gives me headachs 24/7. This forum is a great place for information, and meeting other people with the same problem of sorts.
