Well, I got here about eight hours ago. I'm all ready bored... well, not bored, but my rear end hurts from sitting! I've been getting up and walking around the room, buuut, not many places to walk. Did a regular EEG earlier, and I'm all read kina sleep deprived, but tonight I have to stay up all night :( I'm trying to get access to energy drinks - not only will they keep me awake, but they are also likely to trigger some type of seizure activity - the goal of the neurologist! Who I really like. Very easy to talk to - he wanted to hear my story about what the military did to me - which I was not expecting! Basically he said do everything I can think of to trigger a seizure, haha. I told him lack of sleep with energy drinks would definitely help, and he goes "yes! Do it all!" lol. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have any energy drinks around this joint :( I almost bought some earlier, and I should have!

Anyway, hoping that this can turn up the results I want... Which I'm still deciding what I want. Not as if I have a choice. But some red bull would be pretty awesome right now. And the coffee here is kinda weak... don't think it's gonna help much! Anyway, I guess they're going to do the same thing to me tomorrow if they don't get the results they want. It's interesting. I didn't know the video EEGs were so thorough - but I guess that's why the neurologist ordered it.

Have any of you gotten more accurate results from video eegs? I am interested to see what comes up with this. While I struggle to stay awake... and it's only 8 p.m. (last night's lack of sleep should make the next six hours interesting!)

Oooh, I'm admittedly jealous!! I'm "looking forward" to when I can do a VEEG. Hopefully someone will bring you some Redbull soon. (I can't drink the stuff, I'd sneak off to the kitchen and brew stronger coffee, but that's me ;) and it doesn't seem to be one of my triggers)

Ask the nurse for a donut (butt ring) they're inflatable. When I had mom's on hospital bedrest almost all of them ended up asking for one.

Too bad I have no reason to stay up, or I'd stay up chatting with you. GOOD LUCK!!

Lol yea I was looking forward to it too... in a way. No redbull sadly. I mostly just drink coffee and it's not really a trigger. Just something to keep me awake lol. The super high energy drink content helps :) I would sooo sneak out if I wasn't attached to a cable and on video haha. Hopefully the nurse can find mw some coffee soon! She saie she'd try to search some down for me :)

Hope this EEG is gonna pick up what they need asap. Get every possible trigger and seizure like you've never seizured before! But really its better to get it done now then have to stay for days. The lack of sleep should make you start feeling blah. Try to have them track you down some red bull! Best of luck.

Hope you get the results you need. Maybe you should try watching some strobing videos -- even if you aren't photosensitive those can be pretty stressful. Hyperventilating may help too...

I'm watching thriller s which tend to keep me on edge. I did get soke coffee. You all sound like my neurologist here lol. Every known trigger! Maybe tge day nurse will bring some back. The coffee has woken me up which will probably mean bad sleep which will probably help expedite things

I hope you're doing okay! Ugh, sleep deprivation sucks. Not looking forward to that.

yeah coffee has helped. Just watched flashing videos. I now have a headache, lol. Anyon have any ideas for any really disturbing movies/shows that might upset me. That seems to work pretty well for me

I hope you get the answers you need! for me, being sleep deprived really got me going. Gosh if I could think of any good distrurbing movies or shows Id for sure be sharing them.... I just cant think of any good ones at the top of my head at this time....:ponder:

Good luck RG, hope you get some good data out of that. If stress is a trigger see if you can remember that first night at Basic. I remember getting to my Basic training at 1030pm on a bus from Philly. I had never been to the east coast. Those Smokey the Bear hats on heads you can't quite make out. Foggy still night on the parade. The bus pulls up and all laughter stopped as yelling ensued. We finally get into barracks at 230am. By 5am, the lights were back on and a metal trash can was banging at my head and then thrown down the aisle with quite a bit of yelling. Ahhh memories. =) HA!

Lol I wish I was stressed about work or bf like I was! I an watching an Asian scary movie though. Those things are scary! I know I get partials when I've been watching scary or stimulating movies. Here's to hoping thos helps! An hour and a half left til I can sleep!

If you have Netflix apparently there are a bunch of thrillers. They aren't my thing so I have no titles fir you.

They want you to stay awake? That's new to me. For my VEEG they just had me off my meds & wired up. On the 5th day they got what they needed. I went home the next day.

See if they can get you some soda. That should keep you awake. :)

As for some movies for you to stay up:

SAW series
Cujo
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
A Nightmare On Elm Street (Robert England movie series)
Friday The 13th series
The Shining
The Maniac Cop series
Doctor Giggles

I hope that helps, good luck. :)

Running Girl,
Good luck with the video EEG, hope you get some answers.
When I had my VEEG I wasn't to bored during the day because they were pretty busy for me with drs, specialists, students coming in to see me. I had my Mum in with me & we played card games or had the tv on when I didn't have people in to see me.
I found the nights were boring & dragged because I sleep deprived, only getting a few hours sleep each night.

I sadly had to wake up just now. What a struggle that is.. Reminded me of college all over again! Oh how I hated waking up after working on papers until 3 or four in the morning. Fortunately the night shift nurse is awesome and made sure I had coffee when I woke up :) I'm glad the days are busy though. I told the nurse I wasn't sure how I'd make it if I just had to sit in bed all day and she said I probably wouldn't have to. Woohooo!

Bigman, yeah, the sleep deprivation is there to help trigger the seizures (as quickly as possible). I Know for me it's a huge trigger, if I combine that with a lot of caffeine (probanly more than one cup of coffee!) I'll probably experience something pretty quick. If not today, it will be in a day or two. I just wish I could leave this darned room. I also wish I knew how to read EEGs, lol. I'd love to know what mine means! :) Of course, as the EEG tech said, then lots of people would be out of jobs, lol.

Well, *cheers* w/ coffee.

I hope you get something. I wished I could do a video or ambulatory (wonder if I can do ambulatory now that we have video proof of seizures) because I knew that one night of sleep deprivation wasn't going to cut it for me. I'd even been off my meds for close to 7 days. Ugh.

As backward as it feels I've got my fingers crossed that you have a good one for them, and hopefully today so that you can go home and get some sleep!

I got someone to get me a Monster (well, a couple!) The EEG tech is prior military and we were talking, so I asked him if he leaves for lunch and he said yes, and he'd try to get me some :D awesome. I guess this is when it pays to be nice to people :) As for seizure activity... I've had a couple of really small ones (I think). I also chugged coffee this morning, lol. Oh fun times...

HAHA, I Know, my mom was sooo confused when I said they were trying to provoke a seizure. She's like "wait, I don't understand, aren't you supposed to be PREVENTING seizures?" I had to explain that this will help in future prevention, lol.

Yeah, I was pretty tired from the night before last too... One night doesn't really do it for me either - it needs to be cumulative. At least if they find stuff today I won't need to do the sleep deprivation thing AGAIN. I do hope my regular EEG came back normal though so I can start driving again. And then with the testing we can figure out where it all came from, and I'll hopefully be good to go!

And actually my ambulatory came back normal - ZERO seizure activity the entire time. A bit annoying actually! The EEG tech even said that the accuracy rates for these things are pretty low... which I guess everyone on here probably knows. But I couldn't keep myself up with only a few hours of sleep for more than a day or so anyway.

If I did it during the week, while my kids had school. I'm up by 6:45 every day, I usually aim for 6:20. (That's hitting the alarm twice :/ ) So if I could keep myself awake until 2 or 3, I might be able to manage 3 days in a row before I'd crash earlier than 1am. I pull strange hours. The only time I sleep before midnight was when I was on call, it was like my body forced my mind to sleep. Or vice versa?

It sounds like you don't get much sleep! And it sounds like that would probably work, lol. If I was working or having issues in other things, it would be a lot easier for me. They are going to lower my dose tomorrow and wait to see what my results are today. Yay more sleep deprivation??? I think that's the worst part of all of this, honestly. It's okay though, I've got my music going now, and my homework (that might put me to sleep though!) I'm trying really hard to entertain myself. I'm glad I can give details on this board, lol. It's not only awesome because you guys all know what I'm talking about, but also because it helps keep me from getting too bored!
