2nd 5 Day EEG tomorrow morning!

Well finally I go through this process for the second time. This time around i'm not worried about having seizures because they have been happening lately. Probably the best timing for my test.

Time to bite the bullet and go through 5 days off meds and cross my fingers again. Wish me luck!

5 days? I'm new to all of these indepth tests. The only testing I have had done are many EEG's and several MRI's, all normal. Granted, my old neuro group were arguing about whether or not I was really having seizures. Had 1 a few weeks ago after about 5 years seizure and med free and my most recent EEG (a few days ago) showed possible beginning seizure activity. I was really relaxed and falling asleep at that exact moment which prompted my doc to refer me to a colleague at the University of Miami for a seizure workup. From what I understand that includes an inpatient stay with a video EEG for 72 hours. He thinks I'm having seizures while sleeping. Is the 5 day EEG normal protocol where you are? Is it inpatient or are you at home during that time?

Thanks for the support everyone, my mind is giving me a break so I can kind of think. Seized first day and think they have what they need. So i'll find out tomorrow.

Usually the 5 day EEG is the gold standard with and mri here. But that typically only happens with an E specialist. Otherwise it's the standard EEG or over night I think.
Sorry to hear about you having a seizure after such a long break and usually if the docs are having trouble finding the seizures I think they do inpatient EEGs. I wish I was at home but alas i'm in the hospital. I think it's for the best because they do their best to induce strong seizure activity.
