I'm prone to have stronger and more frequent auras right before and during my period, but I've never had a seizure during this specific time. I'm not too educated on what's in birth controls except that they have estrogen and progesterone in them. Will taking bc affect my seizures in any way?

Technically, auras ARE seizures, so you actually are more sensitive to having a seizure during your period. The kind of birth control can be a factor, since some contain estrogen (which can trigger seizures). In addition, certain anti-seizure meds can affect the levels of your birth control medication, and vice versa. So it's important that your neurologist and your OB/GYN help you make the right choice. I use an IUD, so I don't have to worry about any of the hormonal issues that you can have with pills.
