There have been some discussions about CBD oil as well as medical marijuana, and I think few members may be trying the supplement. Hopefully they will weigh in. In the meantime, you might find these links of interest:

I guess I should've should've said something, new to this whole thing. I do take CBD oil. My anxiety has decreased, my focus has improved, I can hold and follow conversations, I was really sensitive to all types of lights. I actually had lunch in a restaraunt with my hubby last weekend and didn't have to come home and hide in the dark for a coulpe hours. The first day I tried it, it started countering the side effects I have, I'm very sensitive to medication. I have cut back on my meds. and have been sez. free for 2 1/2 weeks. Knock on Wood!!
I did a lot of research on it before I 'took the leap' if anyone is interested let me know. I can send you to a couple good sites and tell you more about my new adventure! It's been a blessing for me!

One huge misconception about it, it comes from the hemp plant not a pot plant.
It's legal everywhere, it contains .03% or less thc, all it is, is a 'natural' (not man made) form of the essential vitamins and minerals that we lack in our diets.
It's been a huge 'game changer' for me.

What is your dosing regime like?

I mean how many milligrams of CBD do you end up taking daily?

That's Hemp CBD Oil, right?

I've gone on the marijuana, for a month, took a month off, went back on for two months. It totally reduces seizures ten fold, but I found after about a month or so, I'd get tiny vibrations, but they were negligible and of no worry with me, and short lived compared to with no medication.

My biggest concern is that I cannot really regulate the amount I take, and it hurts the lungs. However, I think rapid cessation has caused me to "rebound" for lacks of better terms.

I am very interested in CBD or Medical Marijuana. It is probably going to be my next strategy.

I heard CBD is legal in all 50 states, but up here in Canada, finding a vendor is something different. I can get "Hemp Oil" from a few USA vendors that will probably ship up here, but I have no idea if it is the same stuff as "CBD Oil". (It's from the hemp seeds) I'm guessing Oils with high amounts of CBD are from a different part of the hemp or something?

yes, it's hemp oil.
I take 500mg in the am and 100mg in the afternoon. Figuring out how much 'works for you' is similar to regular meds. Everybody is different, size, weight, tolerance. I chose to try the oil, it's like a sublingual supplement, goes right into your system. What I did was start w/the 100mg a day and (like w/meds) slowly worked my way up. About 20 min after I first took it I started noticing changes, (holey tension release, my backed popped for 3 days, my chiropractor was even impressed) it started countering the horrible side effects I get from the meds. I slowly increased the dose till I found my 'comfort zone' I haven't had a sez. in a couple weeks so I'm thinking of adjusting my meds a bit more, just to see. I've read reviews where people have been able to ditch the meds all together.

Sorry kind of new to this computer thing. Go to healthyhempoil.com and seedguids.info.
It is legal in the states and like 14 countries. You can order it off the internet, it comes in seeds, vape's, oil's, lotion, shampoo, sunscreen, all kinds of different forms. They test it, it contains .03% or less thc, if it's more they can't sell it. What I have is Cibdex drops, they call it a tincture 500mg and I also have the 100mg it's pre-measured.

Looks good. I am going to try a cold pressed virgin hemp oil for starters and see if that works or not. I don't know if it's the same thing or not, but the way you understand it, it may be.

It's not the same stuff I have, mine comes in a little bottle w/a pump, one squirt under the toung, hold it for 60-90 sec. then swallow.

I'm glad you decided to try it, I really hope you have the same results as I have. My fingers are crossed for you. Good luck!!!

Hemp oil is not the same as CBD oil: http://www.mintpressnews.com/hemp-oi...erence/193962/ Hemp oil contains only 25 parts per million of CBD (0.0025%CBD) whereas CBD oil contains 150,000 ppm (15%) CBD. Given that it is the CBD oil that can provide benefit for seizure control in children with severe seizure disorders, it would seem to me that one would have to consume a whole lot of hemp oil to get any benefit.

Thank you for clarifying.
I do have a question......why is it only being targeted toward helping children? I have generalized complex partial sez. Started w/a coulpe hundred a day. So said all my tests. I wasn't diagnosed till I was in my 20's,(my parental units were....children are to be seen not heard) I'm now 40 something. When I started trying the CBD oil I was on 600 mg. Lamictal and 1750 mg of Levetiracetam a day. Still had a few sez. a week sometimes a day. I'm now taking 300 mg. Lam. and 500 mg. Lev. I feel great, haven't had a sez. in a couple weeks, no headaches, I'm finally putting weight on (5'7" 109 pd. imbarrasing) I feel great, I'm not in a fog, my focus is coming back, my concentration level has improved, I'm not so sensitive to lights and noise that I get migrains. The list goes on and on and.....

I don't have a good understanding of the use of CBD oil, but from what I have read there have been no good scientific studies to assess the benefit in either children or adults; most of the described benefit is anecdotal. The children for whom CBD oil has been recommended and/or tried seem to be children who have dozens or even more seizures per day, their seizures are often affecting their intellectual and physical development, their seizures often are or can become life-threatening, and NO medications have been helpful (or are no longer helpful). The parents of these children - and often their doctors - have felt the risk of trying a drug without scientifically proven efficacy far outweighs the risk of the child continuing to have a huge number of seizures.
Until there are studies performed that use the scientific method of control/placebo groups, and blind studies to ensure no tester/user bias, the use of CBD oil will never be accepted as a potential medication for seizures.

I don't 'buy into' scientific studies anymore. I've been on a horrible roller coaster ride for over 20 years w/meds. Take this, take that, add this, add that, that didn't work let's change it to this. I'm sensitive to side effects so I was told to take this and that for this and that.
I got to the point mentaly and physically I felt better have a couple hundred sez. a day as apposed to a few a week. I saw a program on t.v. one day and I've 'heard' about it on the net that 'studies' have shown an increase in the last few years in neurologist 'disorders' alzhiemers, ep. skitz. bipolar, adhd, add, ect. They found it's 'possibly' linked to vitamin, mineral defficiencies. (scuse my spelling, kind of in a hurry) It made sense, over farming, processed foods, the nutrients have been sucked out of our soil from hundreds of years of farming, chemicals are added to fertilizers, etc. I have found listening to other peoples experience with different things and looking into the nutritional value of supplements (cbd) has been more beneficial for me than scientific studies and prescription meds. CBD has done more for me in 4 months than meds. have in over 20 years.
Nothing is eccepted as anything unless it's recognized in the scientific community. In my opinion, most people in the community are about meds that make them, the doctors, hospitals, the government a lot of $$$. If people were to find an alternative, they would lose a lot of $$$. So they keep pushing pills. That's my opinion.

All I know is that Marijuana, smoked, absolutely works. I haven't been smoking it long enough to do various test with different strains, say, a sativa versus an indica, and so on.

I will try anything at this point. I'm not sure if it is the CBD either, for all I know it could be another ingredient such as the terpenes which is truly of medicinal value. I most certainly have reactions to essential oils (of various plants, not marijuana though) vaporizing under a candle.

I also have a "psychotic features" diagnosis, and I was most certain that marijuana would worsen it, and it doesn't, but the major problem is dosing, and keeping my lungs healthy. After a total of three months smoking, that's the major problem (besides cost).

If the marijuana works, there is something inside it that works.

Only thing I need to figure out are some claims that hemp oil comes from seeds only, and that seeds contain low amounts of CBD, but if the hemp oil which is high content CBD, is being made from a different marijuana or a different part of the plant, then chances are the CBD Oils, are different from the Hemp Oils. But I don't know that yet. It could very well be terpenes of something that is of value.

However, yeah, I've been smoking the plant, not the seeds.

I'm looking forward to getting my medical mj card for Hawaii and starting to do some herb gardening.
I don't like the idea of smoking either for the same reason I don't smoke cigs. So I am planning on making some herbal butter and then using that for cooking. I grow lots of bananas in my yard and I can see some great chocolate banana muffins in my future.

From what I've read the CBD all by itself doesn't work nearly as well as whole cannabis with both TCH and CBD in it. The trick is to get a high CBD/low TCH strain.

Yeah, unsure where I am at with my doctor regarding that. The valproic acid helps me sleep but it doesn't always work. I've been cycling on and off the vaproic and marijuana for a while, and plan to ask my doctor for something to take alongside the valproic, preferably occasionally or as a replacement to.

I may bring up a marijuana license application, but preferably, I don't really need one if there are better meds out there. I don't mind smoking, but all the time is a bit too much, and after a while it feels as if I need to increase my intake just to keep the seizures away.

If the CBD Oil, or the Hemp Oil, or some type of vape product works, then yeah I'm for that. The cost is a bit much, so making my own makes alot of sense.

At this point, I'm expecting a long road, so as many options I can have available to me, helps. I feel safer cycling on and off, than I do, doing anything chronically. Even with the Valproic acid as there is a small chance it's messing with my heart, but I don't know that for sure yet.

Getting too high though, has blood pressure effects which I thought were very bad for me in the past. Blood pressure effects without any marijuana had me thinking I was suffering from some type of epileptic encephalitis or something. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, but what would expect from me as an epileptic?

In most cases the doctors are under legal restrictions that prevent them from prescribing something that doesn't have a significant scientific paper trail. Even practices and medications that do have scientific backing often have a hard time getting widespread acceptance. The medical establishment moves slowly and old habits are hard to change.

I have a doctor as a houseguest right now, so here's a little of her perspective: The health insurers and the drug companies are the big winners here. The government isn't making money off the healthcare industry, though they could certainly do better about spending less (by addressing waste and fraud and by implementing best practices), and there are systemic problems at the FDA. The doctors are often pressured on all sides -- their time with patients is being cut back by cost-cutting practices at the hospitals. They are required to use inefficient medical records software that puts them in front of a computer instead of in front of their patients. The insurance reimbursement codes that they (and their coding staff, if they are lucky) have to plug in are ridiculously complicated and will be changing again this fall. The specialists tend to make money on procedures (like surgery), so they are trying to push the prescribing of medications onto the internists who are already overburdened and underinformed because they barely have time to see patients let alone remain current with drug protocols. The healthcare delivery system is broken in so many ways, that there's no process for embracing new potentially helpful treatments with anecdotal promise.

My houseguest is leaving her current hospital-based practice because she is burned out. She's been happiest doing volunteer medical stints in other countries where the paperwork and the administration doesn't stand in the way of delivering actual medical care...

My state hasn't yet figured out where your gonna get it.
It was Just legalized March 27 and my neurologist wants to try me on it.You have to fit the criteria, and I talked to him about it.He said I fit the criteria since I have failed everything else. I refuse to try another pill I know another pill won't make any difference for me.

My neighbor and really good friend of the family is a retired undercover narcotics officer, he was diagnosed w/stage 4 cancer and his liver is shot. We told him about my cbd experience his wife started pitching a fit, she thought we were talking about pot. He explained to us that the thc is in the leaves of the plant the cbd is in the stem and seeds. They heat it to extract the oil.
