So, my partner called to confirm his March 31 EEG -- it already took us 3 months to get in to the neurologist, then another 3 for the EEG, then who knows until the neuro again, which would have made this entire journey a half-year ordeal at very minimum just to find out (gotta love Alberta health) -- but they asked if he'd like an earlier appointment, and he said yes. Now we go a week FROM TODAY!

That improved my mood significantly. Can you tell I'm all excity and such?

That's great! T minus 7 days and counting...

Yah! I'm not holding out a ton of hope that the EEG will show much of anything, but it's just nice to excise that part of the wait. I. HATE. Waiting. Hate it.

Woo Hoo!
That's awesome! (internet hug!) and Scott must be ecsatic!!

if you can try to factor in some of his triggers before you go in, then that can increase the chance of them finding something.

Aw I'm so happy for you!

Well - we already told the neuro that bold patterns, optical illusions and bright lights set him off, and he took note of that, so I believe that's all part of it. If it's a cold enough day, I'm gonna make him breath heavily through his nose in the cold air before we go in -- it gives him bad smells.

Scott was so ecstatic, he actually emailed me -- a very, very uncommon occurrance, let me tell you. I've already booked the day off work, so I can go and support him before, during and after. besides, I'm curious to see it for myself.

I'm happy too! Hugs all around. Free hug to everybody!

Great that you got in earlier!

I've only ever had to use Alberta care once a very long time ago but if it's anything like BC healthcare or OHIP (in Ontario) the first visit to any specialist always takes forever, once that's over with you get in much faster after that.

Yup, if your there with him, that will be awesome. although being in the same room might be a distraction. I asked Chad to wait outside.

Also it would be good to be there, incase he does have a visible seizure, they will make him stay for a few tests and observation.

Hooray for random uncommon email of excitment!

True dat! Maybe I'll listen to "Hammer Time" to make my day complete.

I kind of want to see what the EEG techs see (do they actually see anything, or is it printed out?) but I doubt I'll be allowed. Either way, it's an early morning appointment, and we're going to make the rest of the day much more pleasant for him (yummy food! do whatever he wants!) because I know he's going to feel gross, especially after the strobe part. Maybe I'll feed him only bacon -- he'd love that.

epileric -- that thought (about visits not being as long as first app.) makes me feel good. I hope that's the case here.

After my EEG, I asked my neurologist for the printout (I wanted to do something graphic-design related with it), and she said that they don't print it out, it's all digital now. So I never got to see my brainwaves spiking and doming...
