It has been a extremely frustrating time for me to
have to note this; because of the CONGRESS, they
have given the AX on some of the drugs that are
actually used also for AEDs ... under the 2008
Medicare and will NOT be covered under the Drug
Plans, and it's even worse if you have a State Program
such as Medicaid as one individual from another forum
has posted "Double M Trap".

After having spoken with several of Medicare Drug
Representatives - having learned that Congress had
originally intended to ax the "anti-anxiety" medications
but apparently wasn't aware that some of these meds
were actually used "off label" - such as "Diastat", "Ativan",
"Klonopin" - and even the Generic formulas are not
covered under the 2008 Drug Plan for next year! But
that is just a few of the many drugs that are not covered.

I have spent days and hours going through plans trying
to find one that would cover what I have that worked;
and it's been bewildering!

The number to call Medicare Drug is:
1-800-633-4227

This is critical for those who have Diastat or Ativan for
emergencies to stop Status. And even worse, for those
who are on Klonopin, as that must be titrated off slowly
and it does not buy any time for a Neuro or Epi to give
their patient a chance to switch over to another med in
such a short time span, especially those on higher dosage!

While I am fortunate I am not on Klonopin at that high
level but I know many people who are on all three meds
to some various levels - but this is absolutely absurd!

And the CONGRESS IS TO BLAME!

What are WE TO DO if one is to go to SE?
