hi all-- So, I think I've been having seizures for a while at night with the start of migraines, but no one had ever seen one until a few weeks ago so I hadn't known for sure. My housemate saw me have a seizure that lasted about 5 minutes and called the ambulance.

It's been making me think a lot about the other things I'd been concerned about but didn't see a doctor for because until recently I didn't have insurance (actually don't have active insurance until July 1st). I see a doctor on the 10th. Over the past year or so I've been noticing that my memory is getting worse. Now I "lose" words. I can mean to say music and it will come out manikin or I just won't remember the word at all. Most recently I've seen the change in my typing and writing. I will write a different letter or even a different word than I mean to, especially if I'm stressed. I was having a difficult day today for multiple reasons and it took me 3 or 4 tries to write a word in my notes at an office meeting. I just kept writing the wrong first letter.

Are these other pieces often connected with seizures? Where can I find out more about what's going on with my brain? What should I be making note of to tell my doctor? What questions should I bring with me to my appointment?

Does anyone else out there have these same experiences? What's going on?

Thank you for your help!

Hi searching71, welcome to CWE!

Cognitive problems with word finding can be a result of seizure activity or other issues in certain parts of the brain. For your appointment, write down when your symptoms started, and whether they are escalating. Include anything at all that has struck you as odd (brain skips, small twitches, dizziness, headaches, visual disturbances, etc.), even if it seems inconsequential. Definitely ask the doc for a referral to a neurologist.

The links below provides more information about simple and complex partial seizures: (they can feature full or semi-impaired awareness, and unusual sensory or autonomic symptoms).
