If you have diarrhea, does your medication move through your system faster than normal? Does your medication level drop faster than it normally would?

Hmm... i think most medications get dissolved through the stomach wall, but i'm not too sure.

The diarrhea could cause dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and/or the presence of an infection -- all of which can lower seizure threshold. In terms of meds and the gut, it depends on how the meds are absorbed. Different meds are absorbed at different rates, and are sensitive to different influences. Zonegran for instance is one that you're not supposed to eat with grapefruit.

I am now thinking the seizure I had the other day was a result of a electrolyte imbalance caused by the diarrhea. I went and got some potato chips tonight because they have a lot of potassium and sodium.

Just an FYI, I was told by my sleep Dr that it is Calcium and Magnesium that you lose if you have diarrhea. Obviously both Calcium and Magnesium can help prevent seizures.
