Dear All,

My son's EEG was abnormal in response to photic stimulation. He has a CT scheduled next. Does that mean that his CT will definitely show some problem in the brain?

With a CT or an MRI, the docs are looking for something like a tiny scar or abnormality that might be the cause or the origin of the abnormal brainwaves. But the CT might come out clean -- either because there is no structural cause, or because if there is one it's too tiny/too deep to show up.

CT & MRI scans are more like an x-ray that they can look at the brain for scars as Nakamova said.

An EEG just measures the output of brainwaves.
