CQ,

You are still feeling okay?

You are a good healer. I like it that the scar is behind your hairline. It'll be hidden forever.

Thanks so much for sharing the pics. It not only let us know how you are doing, but made things a lot less scary for a lot of people.

Hi Endless,

I'm going well & still have a positive attitude about it. It's early Thursday morning here & I not long woke up. Have a bit of a headache this morning but I think that just means my scarrings starting to heal.

I can already hide most of my scar but they shaved of a little bit of my fringe. I joke to people that until my fringe grows I might start a new trend which is have half a fringe lol :p.

Well look at you! It's wonderful to see how well you are doing. You are a much braver person than I am. Was there much facial swelling? I always thought those who have brain surgery had bruising and 2 black eyes, if you did, I see no signs of that now!
Glad it went well, you look great!

Some people can make that new side shaved hair-do work for them!

Glad it went well CQ!

That is some scar! Looks like its healing pretty well though, even though its only two weeks since the operation! Once your hair grows back, no-one will ever know it was there though :)

How about dying the half a fringe purple? It will make you look VERY young! :)

Hi Birdbomb,

On the Friday afternoon (day after the op) my left eye started to swell up & eventually I couldn't open it. The nurses put some witch hazel on a patch which helped my eye heaps. By the Sunday I could open my left eye but then the right eye started swelling up so the nurses put some witch hazel on an eye patch for my right eye.

By the time I got out of hospital on the Tuesday I could see out of both eyes but they were both bruised. The bruisings now gone from both eyes.

Glad it went well CQ!

Thanks Loopy,
Hope is all going well with you. Any news on your little nephew?

Sorry if you have replied to it lately but I've only been on here to quickly update.

It's ok I understand that you're not on much. There's a meeting today which I think will decide stuff for certain. I'm not going to the meeting, its for my parents and the baby's parents. Fingers crossed! I'll let yous know how it goes :)

Good luck to your parents. Hope it go well for them

Hi all,

It's already 4 weeks since the surgery & so far my recovery is going well.
Since the operation I haven't had any seizures or auras but still taking it one day at a time.

For the 1st few 2-3 weeks after the operation I was sensitive to noise but I'm fine now. The headaches aren't so bad now & most days I only have to take panadol at night.

My Dad & I have been taking the dog for short walks which at the moment are every few days. I hope to soon make it every couple of days & then eventually every day again.

The only problem I've had so far was rolling onto my left hand side (where the scar is) when I sleep. A friend who had the surgery last year suggested that I put a pillow long ways on my left side to help stop me roll over. I tried this & it helped alot.

I keep in regular contact with the neuropsych & epilepsy nurse at the hospital to give them updates on my recovery.

Even though I now go to my epitiologist in Melbourne in regards to my epilepsy, the neuropsych suggested I go visit my neurologist here just so he knows how I am going. I have made an appointment to see my neurologist & will go see him in May.
This will be the 1st time in 9 years that I have seen my neurologist & not had to take in any print outs of seizures I've had lol.

So happy to hear that everything is going well for you, CQ!! :)

Hi all,

Everything is going really well with my recovery :D.
After spending 6 weeks with my parents I am now back home. My parents are great but it is also really good to be back in my own place again lol.

I have been going for daily walks for 30 mins, I try to variate the places where I walk so I'm not walking the same boring track all the time.

I am now able to do chores around the house (eg - vaccuming, sweeping) but have to take it slowly.

I went & visited my regular neurologist Today so he could see how I've been going since my surgery. He was happy to see me again & very pleased with how my recovery has been going.

I now just have to wait until end of June for my 3 monthly checkup with specialists & I'm sure that time will go fast.

Thanks for the report CQ. I'm so glad you're doing well!

Hi all,

I have been going really well & I have my 3 monthly checkup on 20 & 21 June. I am now walking approx 45 mins a day, it's almost winter here & the mornings can get a bit chilly but it hasn't stopped me from walking lol.

I am sick of sitting at home doing nothing so am ready to go back to doing some of my voluntary work. I am going back at the charity shop Tomorrow to help out with some computer work.
I am going to probably just do 1 day a week for now then after I have my 3 monthly checkup will go back to doing 2 days a week at the charity shop.

I went and saw the residents at the nursing home last week & will be going back to do exercises with them early July.

I'm glad to hear that things are going well CQ!

Yeah for you, CQ!! It's sooooo great to hear about the progress that you're making, and that the surgery seems to be a success.:clap::clap:

I'm sooooo happy for you! Thanks for the update!

Hi CQ,

I am new to this site and I have been reading through a lot of postings. I came upon yours and saw that you live in Australia. I'm just curious because my surgeries were performed years ago in Dallas, Texas and Peter Dormund from Australia was one of the surgeons. Was he yours, too?

Hope you keep getting well!

Theresa
