Well ill try to make this short, The past month has been interesting, I am diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy. I have been having "weird" sensations atleast once a day now. Sometimes its more severe, on other days like today its not as bad. I do not loose consciousness, but everything around me seems to feel "weird", almost as if im having a panic attack. I am a mechanical engineering student and this semester is very hard, with heavy concentration on math, and statics. The last severe episode was on thursday while I was taking a statics test, I was sitting down so I wasent in jeopardy of falling down(sometimes I get real weak when it happens.) But I could not finish my test due to slight confusion, and change in eye sight. But its impossible to do really anything when this happens due to the anxiety of "what the hell is going on?" and fearing if im going to have a gran mal seizure. I went to the Doctors on thursday and as of friday night the doctor increased my DepakoteER from 500mg to 1000mg daily. The Doctor did not take much interest in my case and said "ill see you in a month for a check up". They did blood work and said my depakote levels were 45. Oh and after this happens, I seem to feel real depressed, or "weighted down", I dont know if that makes sense or not.
Any input would be great, on either coping, or preventing this from happening. My studies are really being effected by this, and hoping the rest of my life isnt going to be like this.

it does sound like simple partial seizures, i would ask to see the doctor again or speak to a neurologist to get it confirmed

Yes it does sound like these are seizures. A good bit of times when I'm having seizures I'll get very confused about what's going on. I might not even know if I should be replying 'yes' or 'no' to a very simple question because I really don't understand what the question means.

I don't know if stress is a seizure trigger for you or not. If this is happening when it's test time then you could be worried about how your going to do on the test and worry about if you are going to have a seizure while you are having it.

I'd defiantly try to see a neuro. They know more about epilepsy and how to treat it than a regular dr does.

I agree with the others. Sounds just like the simple partials I have, and I have several hundred of them a year, and have for the past 30+ years. They really can wear you down. I haven't found any definite triggers, and meds don't really work to stop them, obviously. The meds do keep me from having the grand mals, though. Anyhow, be assertive with your docs, find out all you can about the seizures, and carry on!
