I started topamax about 2 weeks ago. tonight while I was eating dinner my food tasted odd to me and I didn't want it, though I usually love stuffed flounder. My dad tasted it and said it tasted normal, and then my mom told me she noticed I've been saying a lot of things taste weird/bad since I started the medication 2 weeks ago. Now I'm one to be hit with weird side effects, but is it normal that things are starting to taste weird, things I normally love? I've also experienced some numbness in my hands and feet

Topomax is known to affect taste, and also to cause numbness/tingling, so that does seem the likely culprit for what you're experiencing.

I was om topamax for my migraines (prior to being diagnosed with E). I will never forget the dinner conversation I had with my parents. I had been on it for about a month. I swore my ricotta cheese tasted like windex. I get the weird side effects from everything as well. :) good luck, mine would come and go. Hopefully yours forgets to come back.

I never had that side effect from Topamax, but plenty of people have reported it. I took it for migraines too.
