Now that i am transitioning to Lamictal, i have to take keppra and Lamictal. The effect is great that my energy is back and creativity is bursting at the seems. I write and perform and do fun art stuff every day. But! I have been really pissed off and grumpy all day. Is there a way to cut that out? There are no other changes in life; diet, sleep, etc. just anger. and energy coming out of me (in creative ways.)

oh yeah, lots of coffee too. But that is a standard.

lamictal had poor effects for me during a clinical trial.

killed my want to get out of bed all sort of fun things, I had issues staying calm, was a bit depressed .

keppra made me mad to, had to get off of it, which was sad, it worked best on my epilepsy.

Have you told your neuro about the side effects your having like anger? Mysoline and Depkene did me really bad in the anger department,My neuro ended up taking me off them in.Are they doing anything for your seizures?

Depression that seems to come with just about every AED and I've taken other AEDs that cause depression real bad your neuro needs to know about that.
I have a neuro that wants to know everytime I get depressed by my AED right away.

Have you tried B6 and B12 supplements for the anger from Keppra? Works wonder for me.

Thanks all. I will try to contact my neurologist (it takes a full day to bus up there and see them) . And Sperlo, I will take my B vitamins and see it that changes anything.

Lamictal is also used as a mood stabilizer. Years ago when I took Lamictal for seizures, it did lighten my depression but did not do a thing for the depression. Kepprage is attacking, sounds like. Give it time, it should settle down within a week or two. And do try the Vitamins like Sperlo suggested.

Lamictal threw me into seizure activity so I went back to Dilantin. Since then, Tegretal was great for control but rash was so severe I had to change again to Keppra. So far so good, about a month now, but I want to sleep all day and I'm really low and apathetic. N Sperlos' info on the B6 and B12 REALLY HELPS ME with my energy level.. I'd love for my creativity to return. Does anyone know how long the Keppra lows last?
I'm thankful I haven't gotten the rage, perhaps my Celexa (antidepressant) keeps that at bay. I know this is long, but today, you are my only friend!:paperbag::soap:

thanks Nanellen, I had not gotten used to the apathy of keppra after a few years so i am starting to switch. Now i'll be on both for a while. I hope your lows stop soon. I also have been getting good results from vitamins and making sure i take Magnesium at night.
