Hi all,

After using this site for a few months now I thought I would introduce myself and say hello, and basically have a good rant cause I get very frustrated with all this sometimes. :)

I had been having 'wierd' things happening for a few years. Dizzyness, forgetfulness, floor suddenly becoming wobbly, left side numbness, very sureal daja vu....the list went on. I thought it was all in my head, as it were, and there was nothing wrong with me. I ended up having several big siezures, including one at work, I had a few trips to the hospital, including a four day visit. Never had any head scans or anything, I was just told my life was quite stressful.

Anyway I ended up moving to germany (thought the change would do me good) from the UK 13 months ago and after having a few more seizures I was sent to several different brain doctors and had several different scans.
I was told I had AVM's in my brain and a stroke was imminent, the probable outcome being paralysis and/or blindness or death. I was told I needed surgery. To say I was a bit shocked was an understatement. Anyway after more tests, MRI etc.... It turned out that I have had a brain hemmorage at some point in my life though the doctors have no idea when. I also have a hole in the left side of my brain. Apparently the brain bleeds may have cured the AVM's but the doc's are not sure.
I now am on anti seizure meds, im getting fat, im exceedingly tired all the time, and the forgetfulness and vaugness are very frustrating. (Hell of a lot better than the seizures though) Im about to try a different meds next week, so maybe that will help.

Anyway, it feels good to write on a forum for 'like minded' people.

All the best

Ash

Welcome Ash :hello:

I hope that you find everything that you need here. As you may have already found out after being here, there is help in all shapes and forms. I hope that you find a solution soon. Good luck and let us know how you are doing

Hi Ash, welcome!

What meds are you on now? What will you be switching to?

Best,
Nakamova

Thanks for the fast welcomes.

I am currently on 1000mg valproat daily. The neuro is talking about me switching to Kappara.

Let us know how it goes. Keppra works great for some people, not-so-great for others, as CWE members can attest.

I've been on several different meds and they usually all have their side effects.

While I was on one med all I did was eat. I'd eat a half gallon of ice cream a day then hide the empty box in the garbage can so my husband wouldn't see it because he was talking about how much I was eating and needed to slow down.

I'm very forgetful. I don't know if that's from the epliepsy or the meds I take and I'm very tired. I always have to take a nap in the afternoon.

Ask lots of questions, you'll get some good answers. And yes it is nice to know you aren't the only one out there that has those problems.
