I'm not sure I can take anymore of these they are slowly weeking me so bad on my left side. I had a VNS put in and I can't believe how much worse my seizures have gotten since I had surgery. Now they've had to put me on Phenobarbitol 90 mg a day, Tegretol XR 1600 mg a day, and clonazepam 7 mg a day. Is there any light at the end of this tunnel has anyone else had any problems with there Vagus Nerve Stimulator? If so do you have any words of advice for me, words of wisdom anything for me to hold onto. I have 5 girls and a wonderful husband, its really taking a toll on them; I thought when I had my vns put in the seizures would lesson and postical time would be better but its worse. AHHHHH I just want to scream.

I can only imagine how you must feel Kimberly.
The drugs alone must make it hard to function. Let alone to have an increase in seizure activity.

What does your doctor say about the increase?

Im so sorry for your frustration. I hope it gets better soon.

Hi Kimberly,

My heart goes out to you. I had a temporal lobectomy, only to have the seizures return more intense after surgery. I also have the VNS, but we've had to got to the highest settings for it to work for me, although I still have occasional seizures. And I still take 3000 mgs. of Keppra + 200 mgs. of Topamax a day.

I hope you can find something that works.

Cindy

Hi Kimberly! Actually, VNS does NOT work for everyone. And not everyone who gets it has a successful story to tell. I've never gotten it, but several people on this site had it, and it didn't work for them.
