Hi Folks,

I just got news yesterday that my Epileptologist wants me to have more surgery done where they can put the RNS in my brain. This will make the 3rd
surgery but I'm not sure I want to go through with it since I have 3 areas that are triggering seizures.

What I was wondering is what is safer gamma knife surgery or the RNS surgery. Thanks for your time and help and May God Bless You!

Sue

Hey Sue -- I changed the thread title so folks who've had those procedures will be more likely to notice and chime in. I hope that's okay.

In the meantime, here are some CWE threads about Gamma Knife:

And the link below will take you to CWE threads that mention RNS:

Not an easy decision for sure.

Hi Nakamova,

Thanks for changing the thread title I have no problem with that. My Dr. wants me to have the veeg done and possibly the depth electrode e.e.g. where the electrodes are put directly on the brain and also an MRI to see if I can have the surgery done since my seizures have increased and become more severe lasting longer and shaking which I never used to do.

Personally I'm wondering if the gamma knife surgery would be safer and better than the RNS because with the RNS I have to have surgery done every so many yrs. to replace the batteries and I really don't want to have to go through all that.

Thanks for all of your help and support. May God Bless You!

Sue
