Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed. I can't imagine selling it (2002 Road King with lots of upgrades), even if I can just take it around the block once in a while. Thanks for the input and hope both of you get the change to get back in the front saddle once in a while. Three months...

I am a huge motorcyle rider. I own several bikes a 02 1200 sportster 83 750 shadow 85 650 nighthawk and my baby a 71 triumph bonnie. I dont know what Ill do if I get to a point I cant ride anymore. I stay away from any long hauls right now and off highways but its the only way I can let everything go a relax now a days. I feel for all of you who dont ride anymore. I fear the day I cant anymore mysef.

I'm thinking of getting a red Vespa. :)

It would be for fun in the summer, but also in case I can't drive again, and really need to get somewhere quick for some emergency reason. It would still not exactly be compliant, but on a scooter I may hurt myself, but I won't hurt anybody else.

I saw a used one for pretty cheap at a local motorcycle shop. :)

I race vintage motocross and compete in vintage trials. I never stop riding, or at least I don't get rid of my bikes.
I ride:
1974 Triumph TR5MX
1974 Can-Am MX-1 250
1974 Honda TL215 hybrid

I have been riding since I was 4 years old, and this won't stop me.

Awe, I couldn't even bring myself to read the posts in this thread. Was sadly just realizing today that my bike will be parked all summer this year. This is going to be hard...

That sucks man. Well I will have helmet cam action from all the races, so if that helps a bit to fill the void, they will be on youtube. If it just makes it worse, then sorry. There will be more chances for you to ride. Hang in there!

Have a Buell XB12S but a little concerned about upcoming diagnosis and if it will have an impact on my riding. Went to the IOM TT this year which was a must do I did get done...

Ok I realize this post thread is super old, but I thought that I would contribute anyway. I got a CBR250 last summer and spent the summer riding it. It is currently parked as it is still snowing outside!! Grr! Anyways, I just started taking Clobazam on top of my Lamictal so that it can control the lovely myoclonic jerks that I have been experiencing. I am not getting behind the wheel of my car for the next little while until I see how I react to the new med. I love riding my bike and I am really hoping that I will be able to continue riding it (I just got brand new Dainese leathers!!).

Yes quite an old post, but never to old to ride! Ive been riding motorcycle for over 25 years. My first bike was a Honda CBX250 Twin cylinder. Then bought a 1987 Kawasaki EX500, which I still own. I also have a 2008 Honda Shadow 750. Unfortunatly they will probably stay parked for this year. Unless they give me the all clear to drive in September !!

Wow that's an impressive collection! I hope that you can get the all-clear this year! I also hope that I will be able to ride this summer. Feels so amazing to zip down the road on a motorbike!

I found this website because I googled motorcycle license and seizures.

Seriously looking into getting a bike but a family member says there are laws in California saying no. It seems to me I am far more dangerous to others in my 3300 lb VW than I would be on a bike.

I'll keep researching...

Good point - rx4brdm -
I will have to look into this myself. Not sure on the laws her in Alberta. I know at the moment I can not drive my Jeep. Until I get the all clear and my seizures are controlled by my meds. I am hoping for September !! Bike season ends early hear in Alberta.

The laws I found said nothing at all about motorcycles. I can't imagine the laws would prevent you from operating a specific vehicle. I would suggest trying to get the license before buying a bike. I plan on doing it in Missouri, but it is as simple as taking a class.

California Article 2.4, Title 13, Sections 110.01 and 110.02 are the laws I could find with regards to seizure disorders. Here they are: http://weblinks.westlaw.com/result/...y=CLID_SSSA1532336411134&tempinfo=FIND&vr=2.0

I just checked and in Alberta you need to have a medical screening from your family doctor when applying for a license. It didn't mention that it would restrict you from getting your license if all is well. However, if the seizures are not controlled then obviously you cannot drive...

I hope that you can get back on the bike in September as well!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you :) And then you can ride down to Calgary!!

my friends and i are going to Tofino in September and some of them are riding. I am going to be in a car since my little 250 will not like a long trip like that...not to mention that I have not been on a big highway like that before (on my bike) so I am terrified of the wind!!! Need lots more practice!

Thats to bad you can not go on the bike. I took my EX500 on my trip over 6 years ago. What a blast!! The road to Tofino is very windy but if I can remember its only 60km in most areas. Still very beautiful and fun to ride.
And yes if you have only a few km's for experience. It's a good idea to play it safe. Or you could trailer your bike and do the Tofino run. Your 250 would have no troubles. My CBX 250 went from Ottawa to Timmons Ontario and back.
Ride safe and have fun :-).

im not worried about speed as much as i am worried about being blown off the road by the wind...i was driving in the city in september and this wind picked up out of nowhere and i had to pretty much lay down into the wind so that i can prevent myself from being blown off the road....my bike is pretty light and i am pretty small so we were like a feather! i suppose i need to get more practice in and build up that confidence more.
