My dad (who is in his late 50's) is looking for something for him, me and my brother (we are in our early 30's) to do together. Something different besides going to the movies and out to eat or going to an amusement park.

He's looking for something a little more exciting. He had mentioned a canoe trip but that really doesn't do it for me. Has anyone else done anything or have any ideas of what to do?

How about a zipwire? Balloon ride? Phillies game?

Indoor rock climbing. lol...

Here's a good place to look for stuff: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/location/pa

Your dad and brother will scoff at this, but once guys experience this they are converts for life. And going here IS an adventure for guys. A couple of spa treatments. Like a facial and a massage. My ex fought this kicking and screaming. That is, until he went with me. Then he was asking, "when are we going back?"

There's always sports. Like a baseball game or some such thing. One of my favorites is going to a pee wee game. Watching the little tiny kids is like watching the keystone cops. Especially hockey. Oh man, is it funny!!!! Last time I cheered and laughed until my throat hurt.

When I was looking on that pennsylvania attraction site, the tour of the Eastern State Penitentiary caught my eye. Nothing like a day in a massive decomissioned maximum security state prison to bond a family. It even has Al Capone's cell. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/18525 Not adventurous, but entertaining.

A favorite of mine to hang with the guys is fishing. The fish aren't the point. The point is to hang out together and drink beer (O'Douls for you). I don't eat fish and I refuse to catch one, so I don't even put a hook on the end of mine. Nobody ever notices. They just think I have lousy luck. If you don't have poles just go to Walmart. You can get pretty cheap ones there.

Oh, wait! You said exciting. Well, then. I have no idea! Try this spot: http://www.800poconos.com/

How about bungee jumping? Or a hanglider ride (with an experienced person)? or whitewater rafting - do you have that there?

Here's a different kind of exciting. A ghost hunt with an actual paranormal investigator: http://www.pennsylvania-mountains-of-attractions.com/ghosthunt.html

lol....

I'd love to go horse back riding, but he's afraid that I'd fall off the horse! He said that if we went canoeing at least they would put a life jacket on me and I wouldn't go under water.

I think that I did go on a hot air balloon ride when I was smaller. We've gone to sports games, usually hockey. The Pirates (baseball) really aren't a great team so basically we'd be going there cheering on the other team. I'd love to see a Steelers game but it's impossible to get tickets. He's not too much of a sports fan and neither is my brother.

I don't know if there might be anything in Eastern Ohio or maybe northern West Vigrinia?

I emailed him the websites so I'll see what he has to say. I told him about going to get a peticure or something like that, he loves having his back and feet rubbed, but he said that's just too "weird" for a guy to do. I'd bet he'd love it if he tried it though.

Thanks for the info!

Hey, Valerie,

Does he know a cute girl will be giving him that foot rub? ;)

Hiking, white water rafting, sailing, deep water fishing (not in the Gulf of Mexico :( ), etc.

He's probably afraid that with his luck he'd end up with the only ugly one in the whole place! :roflmao:

From Pitt, it isn't far to Cleveland with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Canton with the NFL Hall of Fame. I know you mentioned you have done the amusement parks, but Cedar Point is one of the best.

If you like to party, check out Put-in-Bay up on Lake Erie. Wonderful party spot in a great setting.

You also have some beautiful wine country to your north around Erie or go on to the falls.

As for non-trip activities, I liked going to Station Square when my daughter was in college. You also have some great festivals down at Point Park, including your 4th of July fireworks. Can't skip the Pimanti brothers either.

For football, the heck with the Steelers. Come over to Columbus and see a real team!

Thanks alot BuckeyeFan!

I'll mention Point Park and Station Square, I never even thought of that. There is a ton to do there and I LOVE Pimanti brothers.

The neuro said that I should really stay away from amusement parks and drinking, it's not something good to do if you have epilepsy.

My dad and brother really aren't sports fans either, but I am. Besides why would I want to go to Columbus to watch a football game??? The Steelers do have 6 Superbowl Rings- don't they?!?!?

A friend of mine on the West Coast probably has to go to Cleveland in a year or so & she wants to take me to the Rock & Roll hall of Fame. I'm going to have to check with you then what else there is in Cleveland to do. I"m sure I"ll forget if I ask now lol
