I am so tired and sleepy. I am also feel like I am having problems walking with out stumbling. I kinda feel like I think being drunk would feel. I have been taking lamictal (200mg 2xday) since May. I started klonopin (.25 2xday) on the 19th (Tues). He added keppra (500mg 2xday) yesterday. I know that I have just started some of this stuff. I do not have to teach classes next week so I can stumble around and sleep all I want.

I only take Klonopin, I think that klonopin and keppra would make you really tired since keppra by itself is very potent with that side effect and klonopin sadetes you as well, as far as lamictal goes, it never made me tired or anything just gave me headechs but also wan't usefull at all.

I take klonopin alone now and altough many claim that it makes you much more tired than keppra I'll have to disagree with that statment. I'm taking klonopin 0.75 a day and I could clearly say that even 125 mg of keppra a day made me more tired than this dosage of konopin. From past experience when I combined two medications like keppra and depalept which both effect sleepiness etc the effects were much stronger than on one medication by itself.

My bet would be that the whole sleepiness and tiredness you're feeling comes from the keppra, 500x2 a day, when I was on the dosage I was barely making it through the day.

I take clorazapate which is like krona pin, it is like a downer . It will take quite a while before you are not sleepy and feeling drunk. I also take kept a but that did not make me feel like that at all . I also take an antidepressant Preston. but with it I take .5mg. 3x day Xanax, and .5mg. 3x a day of heldol for my depression , this plus the clozapate and onfi for epilepsy make me tired most of the time . I also take trileptel, diamox for my seizures . It's very hard but your body will adjust within time

That is quite a cocktail.

I called the neuro today. I love that man ... they always call me back the same day! I only have to teach one more week of school, 2 weeks of finalizing projects and then 3 weeks of Christmas Break! We decided to cut the keppra in half (down to 250mg 2xday) until I am done teaching at the end of next week. After that we'll see.

I wonder how long I will be able to stay on the klonopin. I am only taking .25mg 2xday. I have read how addictive and/or how quickly a person's body can be dependent on it.

Kilo pin

I have taken clorazapate for several years . I am not addicted to it at all nor the other drugs . I do not come from a family with addiction problems . That being said it is addictive but I take it for not having seizures . I am also on 4 other meds for my seizures

It controlled my partial seizures for about 4 months and then I had a huge breakthrough seizure and tons of little ones. I am still on it along with other meds. I did not have any side effects on it.

I take Lamictal, Keppra, Tegretol and Depakote. I still have seizures but not as many or as bad. They are pretty much all partials, maybe one TC a year. I generally have about 6 where I'll loose consciousness that last 5+ minutes and about 10 where I don't loose consciousness that last a few minutes. I don't know what yours are like but for me this is good. It took us a while to figure out this combo of meds.

I know I'm pretty tired a good bit. I don't know which med causes it or it could be more than one.

I usually have to take a nap every afternoon because I can't stay awake. If I go too many days without that nap I'm prone to have a seizure. But not getting enough sleep is a seizure trigger for me in general.

Valeriedl,

I have partials and have had two grand mals this year. I also find that sleep is a necessity.. But I try and avoid taking naps just because majority of the time I will have noctural seizures. I'm glad you found a good combo of meds to take! I am also taking tegretol as well :)

Hugs,
Janellie :)

I was had my first Grand Mal seizure when I was 18. My doctor put me on Dilantin, and Phenobarbital where I had occasional breakthroughs although this was often because of a missed dose. As a high school / college student I wasn't great at medication consistency. I improved greatly as I got older with this, and remained on it for 20 years. Out of no where I started feeling "not right", its hard to describe but like a drunk, intoxicated feeling. They took my blood levels and found crazy high toxicity levels from Dilantin. My neurologist switched me to Lamictal. This also made me feel dizzy, and just not right but I didn't have any seizures. He then added Keppra, and took me off of Lamictal- immediate Grand Mal so we went back to the combo of Lam/Kepp. Seven years seizure free, and I had a breakthrough Grand Mal. I was devastated, and completely freaked out. He upped my Lamictal to 500mg, kept my Keppra at 2000mg and added Klonopin .25 to the mix. I have been fine for the past year, but still have occasional days where I feel intoxicated. I have learned to live with my new "normal" because honestly I'm afraid to change meds again, and have a seizure.
