I don't know if it may be just a type of seizure symptom, epilepsy, general depression moods

sometimes it seems like within maybe an hour of taking my phenytoin my mood will have a drastic swing, for the worse

but it's my understanding that phenytoin is not a rapid-action drug, that the amount builds up and is gradually spent by the brain, by the chemical interactions- which makes it seem unlikely it could have such a sudden effect - and I've also considered it might just be a reminder causing a psychosomatic response, in which case I need to reevaluate

I didn't experience any mood side effects when I was on phenytoin, but it affects everyone differently.

Do you take yours with a meal? That might help slow absorption and even things out. Another option is switching to the brand (Dilantin) instead of the generic. The brand form is better for keeping a steady amount in your system.

good ideas - I have been developing a better diet, which has made me feel better all around, and it never occurred to me that it would affect absorption

I don't have insurance, so I'll see what I can do about Dilantin

i feel like when i got dilantin in me im more motivated to say or do things i would procrastinate on otherwise and sometimes that just happens to be saying something bllunt or doing something i normally wouldnt in fear of others thinking im being a jerk.Wich gets intrepeted as youre medecine makes you different or meaner, so for me im quicker to not care what you think about whatever im gonna say if im on dilantin.without meds. im usually scared of having a sezuire wich makes me meeker and quiet, are these mood swings noticed by someone else? i can tell if i have a terrible mood swing emotionally but when someone else tells me ....usually there is a problem theyre not facing that im ready to talk about or theyre the problem . but theres no telling with dilantin its one of those drugs you cant find out much about except theres more good then bad but theres defenitly bad....... andwho created it, and how id like to know more and i been trying to find this out for ten years
