As I was looking straight ahead (in the car)....my eyes were fixated hundreds of yards in front of me. I could hear and see the things close to me in my peripheral vision....but I just could not focus there. It was almost as if I was in a trance....really weird.

I think I know what you're talking about. Unfortunately I don't know anymore than you do. If anyone else has any idea of what this might be, I would appreciate it as well.

I've not

had it happen, though others here have, I believe. It's a form of simple partial seizure though.

Hi, Daisygirl,

I haven't had it happen, either. But it does sound like a SP. It sounds uncomfortable. How long does it last?

I was afraid you would all say it was a seizure....It was like I zoned-out, but was still there?
It lasted about 1-1/2 minutes.

:agree: Definitely sounds like a partial - though they manifest themselves in so many ways.

Please be very careful if this happens again!!!

yup, simple partial, I got them a bunch on kepra when I was first in the hospital. Admittedly they are creepy. Well, I guess I get them always, but when I was on kepra I'd also get locked in and couldn't move anything including my eyes. Kind of sucks and it is scary, but they pass.

oh yeah, not sure if it helps, but mine go along with word finding issues. Can't come up with the words, so lose the ability to speak at the same time as that part happens.

I get the word finding problems too...my kids think it is soooo funny. Tonight, I was trying to say bubbles and all that would come out is bible.

Oh, yeah. The word finding issues. Sometimes it's like living life inside a game show. I turn to the person next to me and say, "you know, the thing with bread with stuff inbetween?" Even complete strangers give the answer and don't think a thing of it. "Sandwich?"

LOL,

Definitely sounds about right to me. I remember telling the neurologist in the ER "Time" instead of watch as I knew I was so close. Sadly it was the only word in the list I got close to being right.

Does seem like similar symptoms as I have. Out of curriousity, did you have the deep sigh breath once it released? Like you had been holding your breath during it, while you actually hadn't.

yes....I do get the deep sigh!! I shake my head, like I am clearing my brain, and saying......glad that is over.
It is amazing the similarities. :)

Very cool,

Nice to know I'm not alone as these things sure can have a lot of symptoms. Definately sounds like we got the same things firing. How long have you had it for. I'm only 6 weeks into it myself.

I was diagnosed in June....but think I may have had some of this my entire life. You can read about my history if you go to my profile.
What med are you on? I am on Lamictal now.

Hi Daisy Girl,

I mainly have partial seizures or auras. My turns usually start of with me having a really weird dream come in my head. It's usually the same kind of dream & the strange thing is I never remember what the dream is about. If you asked me what happens I couldn't tell you but once it does come in my head I know I'm probably having a turn.

Once I get this dream in my head my stomach will feel tight & I will feel like I want to go to toilet (funnily enough I have not yet wet myself), my head will feel a bit stuffy & sometimes things sound blurry.

I don't think the dream lasts long but when it's gone I start doing weird things that I don't remember. I have had both family & friends witness these turns, they have told me how I will stare into space with my eyes looking glazy & I might start talking where it wont make sense or do strange things.

An example is I was at my parents place one day & we were eating ice cream. Mum saw me get up to go to the toilet then when I had finished I sat back down & continued to eat my ice cream. Not long after I sat down I froze & my spoon was in mid air. Mum took the spoon from my hand, I ended up picking up the bowl of ice cream & 'drinking' it. I then went to the kitchen & started to rinse out the bowl. All I remembered was having the dream, going to the toilet then next thing I knew I was in the kitchen rinsing out my bowl & my parents were telling me I just had a turn.

these turns usually only lasts a couple of minutes. My family & friends who have seen me takes these turns alot are used to them but they still worry. I try not to let them get to me & the only thing that annoys me wis when I don't remember what happened.

My memory is bad which is combination of both they meds & epilepsy.
Lately when I talk (even when I'm not having a turn) I will get some words jumbled up or forget the word but the person Im talking to usually figures out what Im saying lol.

I am worse when I am talking during a turn though, I will be thinking Im saying something & will say a completely different word. My Mum knows my turns the best but Ive had her tell me how when Ive had a turn I'd say something & she'd have to tell me she doesnt know what Im saying.

Yeah, I get these, too. Like some of the others have said, these spells do sound kind of like simple partials. Mine are a bit different, but I too kind of zone out (so I've been told) and it takes me a minute to get back to "normal". It's kind of trance-like for me as well, except I am pretty conscious of what's going on, I just seem to fixate on something else/somewhere else.

Yes , mine are triggered by the movement like that however they cause me to be terrified as going into a turn or appears to me as if we are running into take... your pick another car changing lanes, the bridge off the interstate ect ect.
I will et a direct shiver whole body when I come out of it

sandi...do you drive?
I get what you are talking about too....almost a panic attack, heart rate increases, I get that feeling if I think a car is going to pull out in front of us, or if my husband gets to close to the car in front of us.....but, I never thought of these as seizures.

My auras include a feeling of doom, like something awful is going to happen. Is it anything like that?

I also get this sort of electrical feeling.... it's really indescribable. I've tried to put it into words a hundred times, but it doesn't feel like anything else in my life's experience. You know how electricity high-tension wires hum? Translate that hum into a feeling, and that's what I've got.
