Our sons neurologist is suggesting a trial with either sabril or banzel. He has been on every med almost with minimal success and some awful side effects. He is 38 years old and has treatment resistant epilepsy. The MRI shows periventricular hypertrophy (sp??). The Sabril scares us in that it causes eye problems and he has already lost significant peripheral vision from one of the drugs he was on earlier. The doctor says not to worry he will do an eye check each month.
The banzel doesn't seem to have the side effects as sabril
Was hoping to hear from some of you who have taken these medications and what your real life experiences were.
