I've been having back problems for the last few years. This last time that I went to the dr I found out that I have arthris in my back.

Does anyone know of any web sites with some good info? Does anyone else deal with this too?

I'd be glad for any help, thanks!

Do you know the type of arthritis? I have Osteo and Rheumatoid. The Osteo has caused me to have both knees replaced, but the Rheumy has been the worst. Had several surgeries to repair tendons, had serious infections because of the immuno-suppressant meds I have to take. Depression is a way of life. I live with constant pain and I can even forecast weather changes. TA-DAAA!!!

http://www.arthritis.org/ is wonderful. The forums are very friendly and supportive.

My grandma has anglospondonitis (that's probably not spelled even close). It's a rare condition that usually only accures in men. She got it 40 years ago and back then they didn't know what it was, espically since she was a woman. I guess if you have B-25 (I think that's what it was) in your blood then you may have it.

I've noticed that since the last time my back froze up the right side never really stopped hurting. I'll turn the wrong way or sit for a long time and it will ache. It's a pain that I can deal with for now as long as it doesn't get any worse. Stupid me forgot to tell that to the dr when I was there. I think when he said that I have arthris that sort of blocked everything out of my head.

I'm 33 and I don't know if that's a young age to get it? To me it seems like it is.

Thanks Birdbomb, I'll check out that website. I'm going to give the dr a call and ask what type it is. I never even thought to ask. I really didn't know that there were more than one type also.

There are several types and subtypes. Just remember pain doesn't have to be an issue. I am seeing a pain management doctor and he also works on the accompanying depression which is one of the lovely symptoms. My pain is not all controlled 100% but I am in much less pain than I was 6 months ago.
My RA flares up and down as does my fibromyalgia that is why it's difficult to get my symptoms under control. It's been like this for several years. I guess because I wasn't diagnosed sooner. My first symptoms happened when I was a teenager but it wasn't until I had a tendon repair (in 2004? I think) that I was finally diagnosed with the RA. I had ALL the signs and symptoms but the military doctors just blew me off, said to take aspirin and "just live with it". Nice, huh?
Age really makes no difference. People tend to think arthritis as an old person's disease but it 's like epilepsy, it can happen at any age.

I found out the type I have osteo

I'm going to check out those websites now, thanks everyone!

I have Osteo. My doctor put me on tylenol with codeine. I take it as needed.

Thenk you for the websites, I will be looking them up soon.

Some of the sites are more research oriented and some are more of a talk forum...but I wanted to select the best of the ones I thought might help...

Voltaren Gel is a lifesaver, too. It is an anti-inflammatory, but it is applied to the skin. So it doesn't affect the general body, just where you put it. Messes with your system much less.

Hi! I certainly feel for you.
With all of my epilepsy related E.R. visits with x-rays the drs. have discovered that I have osteo arthritis at the base of my spine.

It can cause 10+ pain.

At home I find myself walking around placing a finger giving light pressure at the base of my spine.

Thanks to God I have found some prevention of my major pain.

I have a tendousy to have hard stool. I find now if this happens it must press on a nerve because that is when the pain becomes so terrible. Adding more fiber(a lot bit more) or if that doesn' work using stool softener seems to prevent the pain almost completely. I have also found that doing my daily exersize using a floor pedal exerciser instead of brisk walking helps prevent the pain also.

I will definately look into these other resources mentioned here also. God bless you and best wishes. lonnie

Have you considered accupunture? My husband (who's 6' 5") has terrible back pain...and he really gets relief after his once-a-week accupuncture session. He used to go for massage too, but he found that the pain relief was only very temporary.
