I have been told that I need to 'speak to someone' and since I am so against councillers and have such issues with general people they said I should try to friend like a e-pal or whatever.

I realise that this sounds super pathetic -

They just said that I should have someone my own age with the same kinda thing that I can relate to. I am 20 with JME.
Not even just about epilepsy all the time, just generally talking.

Probably going to regret this as soon as I send this and you will hear no more from me.

Kinda help and be helped situation.

Nope ... doesn't sound "super pathetic". I am 44 and you would think that at this point in my that I would have had it together. NOPE. My neuro has been on me about my stress level and "supportive counseling". I talk (whine) to my girlfriends and frequent/lurk on this board and a cancer board. Everyone here is super friendly ... you won't regret it!

I am 29 with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy as well (have been taking Depakote/ER for about 15 years now)...let's talk! If you feel comfortable of course! If not then that's cool too...whatever you decide I will be supportive because that's what friends do :)

Yea, as you know, I'm here as well. 26 years old with JME... and I know it can be a big load of dump sometimes... lol...

as soon as you say.... I don't want to sound creepy. You do :-P they teach that in public speaking.

I am 30, have had epilepsy for 7-9 years. I live by the fact it could always be worse. but i always want to do what I can to make things better for others even if just a little bit. my company goes out of our way sometimes to help people sometimes on disability and what not, it is nice working for a small company.

I will gladly take the time to talk to you sometimes. even now I will up for a few more hours because I am behind with work stuff.

(when you go to the hospital here with epilepsy, one of the local hospitals sticks you in the psyche, so every trip was always an adventure. naked people running down the hall, screaming for fruit cups. the rubber room and everything)

Hiya

First not creepy - talking things out with people that know some of what your going through.

However, counselling/therapy should you ever change your mind can be a useful tool to have in your epilepsy utility belt.

I'm 38, was diagnosed with TLE at 17 had uncontrolled seizures for about 10 years. Then got control, then was seizure free for 10 years and off meds for the last 8. Had a breakthrough seizure last years and was re diagnosed with JME.

So happy to listen.

Welcome to CWE Zara-Newman!

It's definitely not creepy at all! Epilepsy can be scary, frustrating and confusing, why wouldn't you want some sidekicks to help you out with it! =)

Counselling really isn't as scary and weird as everyone makes out. But coming on this site might be just what you need so hang around and check it out =)
