Your daughters Hashimoto's disease is another autoimmune disease which comes from thyroid trouble...it's when your immune system attack your thyroid gland that Hastimoto's starts.

The only thing I can only suggest is asking for further bloods to be run on A1 diseases such as whats being discussed Lupus etc, to see if there is any underlining autoimmune disease/s...they can only refuse.

I'm not a specialist as you know but it seems as there's something more underlining because of the connection with the thyroid gland trouble in the family.

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the most common cause of hypothyroidism.

Hypothyroidism is hereditary. If a person in your family has hypothyroidism there's an increased chance that you will have it as well. However this could also mean that you will develop a different thyroid problem.

One family member may have a problem with low supply of thyroid hormones
while another may have an enlarged thyroid gland or a goiter.

That is exactly what happened to my daughter.
I've had have enough drug tests + EEgs, MRI's, CTs etc. done. Enough is enough.

I also have hypothyroidism and take thyroxine daily but I'm just adding this list below on the causes which can cause it plus your Type 1 diabetes

•A family history of hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune thyroiditis.
•Down's syndrome. Hypothyroidism develops in 1 in 3 people with Down's syndrome before the age of 25 years. Symptoms of hypothyroidism may be missed more easily in people with Down's syndrome. Therefore, some doctors recommend that all people with Down's syndrome should have an annual blood test to screen for hypothyroidism.
•Turner syndrome. Again, an annual blood test to screen for hypothyroidism is usually advised for people with this condition.
•An enlarged thyroid gland (diffuse goitre).
•A past history of Graves' disease, or thyroiditis following childbirth.
•A personal or family history of other autoimmune disorders - for example: vitiligo, pernicious anaemia, Addison's disease, type 1 diabetes, premature ovarian failure, coeliac disease, Sjögren's syndrome.

As long as you're not referring to my problems. I already know where my autoimmune disorders come from. Like I previously stated, my Type 1 Diabetes was caused by another drug, NOT by any of the disorders you've listed.

I've been reading a lot lately about the link between Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's and Epilepsy lately as well. In that case though I wonder if the link is more related to the use of meds over time . . .

:agree: It does seem as tho the use of AEDs would cause these types of problems after years.

Well correct me i I am wrong, but my doctor after me suggesting that I had a light form of sjorgen syndrome, gave me some nasal cortical steroids.
Which technically suppresses the immune system in some fashion.

So someone with seizures may find relief with that style of medication. My eyes haven't been particularly that dry ever since my first short run on the stuff, however I have no precise means to measure that, nor have I kept kept accurate records.

Today I will put that theory to the test again and hope I remember the results. I will stay awake for a long period of time till I tire which most certainly triggers seizures in me, but I will also load up on the steroids.

I've promised myself that I will use the steroids very sparingly out of fear that chronic use could make a bad situation worse. Something I will mention with the doctor next time around.

Be careful with steroids, especially if you are self-medicating. Check with your doctor first! Steroids can cause seizures. They can also interact with some seizure medications, either raising or lowering the seizure medicine levels in the blood, which can affect their effectiveness. They can interact with other kinds of medications too, and have other kinds of health side effects.

Yeah, my doctor proscribed them to me. I use them only when necessary and give myself plenty of time between another round. The way I see things, I have a 3 year supply with the 2 month supply provided.

I only consider it supplementary treatment.
